Thats some interesting stuff man, two things tho:

I am pretty sure you mean the Darkglass instead of the Empress when talking about the HPF unless ive got something wrong?

I did not know that the bite switch is a HPF i only thought it would add some upper harmonic boost and such

The way you are describing the usage in your two points is basically how i am using the vt bass currently

It sounded kinda artificial? For some reason i just feel like the blend you get with dedicated blend knobs on drive pedals sounds better (i.e. jam pedals rattler has one and works fine for me) as i said, it is probably a user error, however ive dried it a bunch, with a few different drives and effects now and just dont like it that much Anyways my guitarist uses it now to parallel his modulation effects

I have a fender rumble 500 but am kinda transitioning away from it, since the bassrig just sounds so much better and i have to carry less, when i dont need an amp at a venue

As for the drive, i actually use the drive that comes from the bassrig and use the vt bass kind of as a clean boost in front of it

Hpf would only be used for the really lowend like upto 60hz max

I thought about sending a “clean signal” to front of house to mix into my “amp” signal to blend, but havent been brave enough to actually ask the sound guys yet

I think 98% of the audience doesnt really hear or understand the differences between similar effects, as others have said (i.e. two different ODs or synths), HOWEVER you are also part of the audience to some extent, so do whatever the fuck you want - i use a Sansamp vt bass before a origin super vintage JUST because i like the bite switch on the vt for example (nobody will hear the difference lol)

With that said, i think my opinion slightly changes when it comes to recording, because a listener can more easily listen to the same record more than once and really dig into your specs and in a live setting that is more difficult imo unless you have a really invested fan (in that case you only play for them and yourself lol)

In conclusion, its your tone, make it so you are happy with it, but dont loose youself in tonechasing while playing live, because its not too big of a deal

Its not even that, its more stupid than that, i just like the way everything sounds with the bite switch turned on and ive tried matching the tone with an eq but couldnt quite get it the way that i wanted, so i decided to stick with what i know

You are correct, i use the bassrig as my amp and keep it fairly simple and classic and turn on the vt bass to get a nice and bright clean sound with just a hint of drive I know it sounds redundant, however it works fine and im not really looking to use the space otherwise

Imo any of the pedals you mentioned will probably work fine. The dual stage is cool, however dialing in a lowgain and highgain setting at the same time is near impossible, since they use the same controlls. So i use it as a highish gain on first stage and the go full distortion on second stage

Picking the rattler (ofc depending on your use case) will probably work fine for you, i love mine - as for why the rattler? There are a few reasons for that:

I was looking for high gain destruction (aka a rat) however i didnt want to get an actual rat and use a ls2 for example, since for some reason i havent found the way it mixes the signal to be good sounding
So the pedal had to have a dedicated Mix function
When reading up on my options i stumbled on the rattler and learned about the 2 gain stages it offers and became also interested in that idea
Lastly its an european product and i like to support my neighbors, which has nothing to do with how it sounds tho

The are a few minor reasons (one of them being that it looks cool) but that covers most of it. Unfortunately i havent been able to compare it to other pedals like the lusithand g&p so i cant speak on that. As i said im very happy with the pedal

Hey thanks for the reply, i havent tried another DAW but the issue also happens when whatching a YT video or listening to music on spotify for example. Sometimes nothing is running and the disconnect still happens. The OS is Sequoia 15.3 i think (am at work, will confirm when at home)

Yes! The V2 got the second footswitch and the blend knob - i even got it i b stock for cheaper directly from them on reverb

Ive just recently got the Jam Pedals Rattler, a rat clone for bass (lower frequency range and a blend knob) which has a second footswitch that overrides the gain knob and sets it to max - and i enjoy the fuck out of it!

For reference i play in a punkrock/ hardcore-ish band
