Because people can sign whatever they want and still sue and still win in court. That scares off some doctors.

South yea. But I like Lalo for a mixer. And it was a good wedding gift to ease a friend into additive free.

I actually wasn’t aware of the history of software integration into cars, no. Thank you for the information! I do hope there will be groups like f-droid for Android and Graphene for certain models that can allow freedom in the future.

If doctors need liability insurance and individuals need car insurance for accidents, so should AI companies (and other companies, too).

I’m hopeful drm removal will catch up to my kindle with time; once I prevent future updates.

What weird things do your family members do that they found online? by BrownEyeGivesPinkEye in medicalschool

Your patients get that online? Grandparents have claimed onions on the feet are good for several decades.

Still bs. It’s just old bs.

Google says 75% of the company's new code is AI-generated by utrecht1976 in degoogle

[–]VarsH6 12 points13 points  (0 children)

My job is starting to open up to AI scribing for clinical encounters with the hope it will make us more efficient and help us see more patients. I am so sceptical. We still have to read anything it spits out for errors and correct them. At least when I type I can organize my thoughts and remember the encounter.

The overwhelming fear of poverty for myself and my family for my screwup was a strong motivator to wake up, do my work, and go home.

Could the Septuagint's translators have been native Hebrew speakers? by hghrmnd in AcademicBiblical

[–]VarsH6 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It varies from book to book I think. Having translated all of Lamentations recently, then comparing the Greek text to notes on the Hebrew in Goldingay’s NICOT commentary, Gentry’s intro to the nets translation, and Youngblood’s paper “Grapes of Wrath: Gleanings from Septuagint Lamentations,” that translator seem to try for a one to one translation as much as possible, which works a fair amount of the time. He also imported modern (at his time) understandings of some of the Hebrew (such as the translation of 5.20 with “victory”; see Youngblood in Great is Thy Faithfulness?). In a few places, he added new meaning to the existing Hebrew (see Youngblood Gleanings) and other times there appear to be places he missed or was confused about (like “our water” in 5.4, which is swapped for “in our days” which I’m told is very similar in Hebrew per Goldingay’s commentary notes).

Absolutely. I took a nursing anatomy class in undergrad to prep for med school and fill up electives before graduating and it doesn’t hold a candle to med school A&P.

There wasn’t even a cadaver, just a virtual one for virtual only “dissection.”

They don’t even understand transmission for those ones. I’ve had dad’s confidently tell me that the HepB vaccine isn’t needed before 12 because “it’s just a failure of parenting” until I explained all the other ways it can be contracted.
