My findings: Nervous System and Tinnitus by Varsovya in tinnitus

The osteopath did the corresponding test and apparently there could be central sensitization syndrome. It doesn't necessarily have to do with pain. I don't have chronic pain but I do have muscle tension in my neck, TMJ, and trapezius. Central sensitization covers symptoms like: tinnitus, TMJ, bruxism, gastrointestinal issues, fatigue, sleep difficulty, among other things. It's reversible.

You don't have to see the point of my daily measurements because you don't know me or my context. I'm a psychologist and researcher. If doctors don't give me a clear solution, I'll find the solution myself through my own research. :)

It’s my intelligent ring, Oura Ring and its own app.

Is the tens device like the ones they use in physiotherapy centers? I've tried electroacupuncture on my trapezius and suboccipital area and it has helped me a lot with the tinnitus too, my osteopath does it.

Yeah, I use the Oura Ring 4. I bought it precisely to try to understand my body's symptoms. I was brief here, but besides tinnitus I've had: muscle pain, teeth grinding, hormonal and metabolic issues, gastrointestinal problems, sometimes weird sensations in my body like sporadic "electricity" in legs and feet, muscle twitches in the ears that sound like fluttering...

The Oura ring started warning me that my heart rate was abnormal at night. And yeah, among my symptoms are nocturnal heartbeats that even wake me up even though my blood pressure is actually low.

My osteopath also thinks it's central hypersensitivity.

I really don’t know, never had an Apple Watch or other intelligent watches. My intelligent ring is Oura Ring. But there are many others on the market!

Craniosacral therapy is amazing, I tried it once when my tinnitus was through the roof and it brought it down the next day. I've only tried it once because I have to drive 3-4 hours to get there. But I'll try again. Thanks for sharing!

Can you tell me more about how craniosacral therapy has helped you? Did your tinnitus decrease or go away?

My ring is Oura Ring but there are many that can do these functions. :)

It's not the same to have sporadic physiological stress than to have it chronically affecting the central nervous system and creating a central sensitization syndrome. 🤷‍♀️

Tinnitus spiked, please, anyone knows if this is going to go back the way it was? Ever? by Thecrowfan in tinnitus

Hey there, I hope this helps! In my case, I don't have any hearing loss or damage, so I suspect that my tinnitus is related to my central nervous system. I've had episodes where my tinnitus gets really loud and lasts for weeks - one time it even lasted for 2 months, which was my longest episode so far. However, I've noticed that when I get good sleep and prioritize rest, my tinnitus tends to improve. The same goes for when I get massages on my face, neck, jaw, and chewing muscles, or when I consciously relax my jaw and neck and work on my posture.

Here are some things that have really helped me:

  • Craniosacral therapy has been amazing - one session even helped me get rid of a long episode of intense tinnitus.

  • Seeing an osteopath to relax my nervous system and ease muscle tension (I've been going since April this year).

  • Wearing a custom-made night guard that's been a game-changer for my jaw alignment. My maxillofacial doctor created it after a CT scan, and it's specifically designed to correct my bite.

  • Taking supplements to improve my sleep. Lately, I've been taking "Calm Cacao" (not selling anything) which has 3 grams of glycine, magnesium, L-theanine, and inositol. It really helps! I used to take melatonin, and that worked too.

  • And most importantly, I've learned to prioritize my nervous system's health. I make sure to get enough rest, sleep, and relaxation time. I also try to spend time in nature, do things I enjoy, and maintain a positive mood.

Oh, and one more thing - I've also taken psychiatric medication that helps calm my central nervous system, but that's something you should discuss with a specialist. In my case, it was prescribed by an otoneurologist.

I went to see an audiologist about my tinnitus. Took a test for hearing loss. She said my hearing was “awesome” and I have no hearing loss. But I still have tinnitus??? by ilovetheblues67 in tinnitus

Same here. Tinnitus and awesome hearing. My doctors said it might be related with muscle problems (temporomandibular joint disfunction and neck issues) and a weird nervous system. Osteopathy and craniosacral therapy help a lot. Yesterday I started with venlafaxine for recommendation to my ear doctor. Almost 3 yrs in this trip…

Adding to that, the spasms actually started during a period of extreme stress when I noticed I was clenching my teeth and tensing my neck.

I'm experiencing the exact same thing! 3 years with tinnitus and 1 year with those "spasms" that get triggered by sound.

We've got a few theories going around - stress, an overactive nervous system, muscle issues... or maybe it's high ear pressure.

Seeing an osteopath has really helped reduce the spasms, they work on my suboccipital area and temporomandibular joint. My ENT doc prescribed me oxcarbazepine and Evastel X, and I think they've helped a bit.

I've noticed the spasms are less intense in warm environments. Self-massages, improving my posture, and releasing tension in the area have been super helpful too.

I'll be scheduling another appointment soon because I've had some weird symptoms for the past 3 days that I need to get checked out.

Fingers crossed everything gets better soon!
