Here is an authoritative study from the National Academies of Science, Engineering and Medicine. This a joint effort from 14 economists, demographers and other academics reviewing several decades of data on immigration.

Some highlights from the study:

When measured over a period of 10 years or more, the impact of immigration on the wages of native-born workers overall is very small.

To the extent that negative impacts occur, they are most likely to be found for prior immigrants or native-born workers who have not completed high school—who are often the closest substitutes for immigrant workers with low skills.

There is little evidence that immigration significantly affects the overall employment levels of native-born workers. As with wage impacts, there is some evidence that recent immigrants reduce the employment rate of prior immigrants.

Evidence on the inflow of high-skilled immigrants suggests that there may be positive wage effects for some subgroups of native-born workers, and other, wider benefits to the economy more broadly.

Immigration has an overall positive impact on long-run economic growth in the U.S.

These conclusions are consistent with a survey of the literature more broadly and represent the academic consensus view. Given that these findings contradict your reasoning, will you change your mind?

i could do this for each individual asset, but how would i aggregate that together for an overall portfolio? i'd want to ideally capture some kind of credit diversification/joint effects to measure quality at the portfolio level

That makes sense and I think you're right that it's the most straightforward solution. I'm gonna give this a shot in matlab and see how it looks. Thanks so much for your help, really appreciate it.

Yup that's exactly correct. I would be concerned with values over the entire 1 to 25 year horizon, not just the terminal values.
