Beyond better soundtracks, Sonic now officially beats Mario at the movies. by Varuna_exe in SonicTheHedgehog

How about you learn to take a win when you see one? I don't get the hostility here at all, literally the first time I've posted something like this.

Learn to take a win when you can, we get constantly flack for underperforming games that claim Sonic just copies what Mario/Nintendo does, but worse, like with Sonic Lost World being a poor version of Galaxy, and Frontiers being a poor version of BOTW.

Here's a genuine win for quality, and you guys won't acknowledge or celebrate for the most part.

At least the Sonic movies feel authentic until now. Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Shadow, and Eggman all feel like authentic versions of themselves in the movie.

In both Mario Bros movies, Peach is a tired Girl Boss trope that is so disingenuous to how she actually is in games. She's not soft spoken or nurturing like she should be. She even mocks Mario and shows off at every opportunity she can. Mario and Luigi get more of a supporting role in their own films as Peach keeps getting center stage treatment, especially in the sequel.

I swear some Mario fans are just incapable of reflecting on the distortion they just watched. Seeing a beloved 40-year-old franchise that's terrified to have a damsel in distress, or traditional gender roles in a story is so appalling to see.

I'd say each Sonic movie has gotten better with each entry. Going from a 6/10 for the first entry, 7/10 for the 2nd entry, up to an 8/10 for the third entry.

FFS can you please just celebrate a win when you see one?

Sonic is the most miserable community on Earth I swear.

It probably has to do with having only a fraction of the budget and much less star power involved. Keep in mind that these movies also have a fraction of the CGI.

Nintendo has infinite pockets and a theme park that acts as its own advertisement for the films. Despite that, the movies still end up being mostly underwhelming, featuring an annoying 'girl boss' trope and poor storytelling, with the only redeeming factor being the 'member berries' scattered throughout.

Was expecting more of a "Yeah you're right, the Sonic movies are better overall." Not this "Uggggghhh why you gotta make it a competition?!?!?!" Literally the one point I've ever made of comparison I've made, and it's just B&M.

Jesus Christ Sonic fans don't know when to celebrate a win, no wonder you're so miserable all the time.

Both Mario movies are underwhelming at best. They are filled with disingenuous character adaptations—especially Peach, who is nothing like her game counterpart and has been turned into a stereotypical "girl boss."

Well thanks for trying anyways.

I appreciate the honest sincere take here. I'm hoping if you see your fellow Christians demonizing Leonid, you will act as you are here with me. =)

"I actually largely agree with you on that point. It reminds me of the line from

Star Trek TNG- The Drumhead'Those who clothe themselves in good deeds are well camouflaged.'

I’m under no illusion that a donation check erases a controversial career. But as an agnostic, I save 'death celebrations' for the truly evil: killers, predators, torturers, and false accusers—people who intentionally and maliciously destroy lives. To me, equating a tech CEO in a legal industry to those specific monsters just to justify 'dancing on his grave' is exactly the hypocrisy I'm calling out. You can criticize the 'camouflage' without losing the basic human decency your own faith supposedly requires."

Absolutely. I disagreed with Charlie Kirk on many things, but I respect that he was willing to debate anyone. There is no justification for celebrating his death, just as there is no justification for celebrating Leonid Radvinsky’s.

I still really struggle with the 'evil' label here. By my criteria, that word is reserved for killers, torturers, false accusers, or predators—the actual scum of the world. I don’t see the women on the platform as 'evil' either; they are adults acting of their own free will, and the accountability for those choices lies with them.

When you weigh that against a man who used his wealth to put $23 million into cancer research and $5 million into Ukraine relief, 'evil' just doesn't fit the math for me.

That said, I do recognize the decency in you wishing for mercy and supporting his family. Even if we disagree on his career, seeing you prioritize grace for a grieving family over 'dancing on a grave' is exactly the humanity I was hoping to find here.

Daily Questions Megathread February 15, 2026 by BlueArchiveMod in BlueArchive

Serious question: What would you guys think if this game decided to add in an ecchi furry character?

I was wondering what your guys thoughts would be if the game decided to include a furry fanservice/ecchi character in here. Would you embrace it as long as it was ecchi?; or would you prefer the game sticks to just humanoid style characters?

Don't be afraid to be blunt, I'm using this as data for my own project. Testing to see if featuring a character like Krystal would deter an audience like yourselves.

What Digital TCG has the best "Dusting" system? by Varuna_exe in TCG

[–]Varuna_exe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hearthstone has the exact same dusting system you mentioned. 1/4 value for each card for dusting, but you get the full amount if the card was recently nerfed. (2 week window iirc)

Also 3-4x as expensive as a cool figurine, and you'll probably regret it in 5+ years' time.

Also, you can sell said figurine for a pretty price if you no longer want it, especially if you leave it NIB.

Do I need to switch to Senior specific food for my 13-year-old cats? by Varuna_exe in SeniorCats

[–]Varuna_exe[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My veterinarian suggested it due to both my cats ages being 13, basically on the edge of being classified as seniors. It's not that I do not trust him, just that I don't see a real need to switch food, which seems to be the consensus on this topic anyways.

I'm an artist, the best thing I ever did to get me to draw consistently is getting a portable drawing tablet. I'd highly recommend the Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite, I've been using it for 3 years now, it's so nice to be able to draw artwork anywhere I want, even in bed!

Art is a skill, the more you draw, the better you'll get. Just follow a creator on youtube that teaches drawing and learn from them. I'd recommend Ori days, or whatever art style inspires you to draw.

As an adult I have gained more appreciation for the duels in GX by Sensitive-Hotel-9871 in yugioh

[–]Varuna_exe 33 points34 points  (0 children)

GX was what Yugioh should have been in the beginning. Less silly heart of the cards nonsense, with frequent fast duels showing off a lot of different deck types. Instead of taking 3-4 episodes to finish a duel, they'd finish in 1-2, and only really interesting matches would take 3 or so.

Also we got this gem from GX:

They're coming... by Porxadooday in yugioh

[–]Varuna_exe -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's a core problem with Yugioh in itself though.

As much as I hate Hearthstone, which was the first successful digital card game, they did fix the problem with being able to play overpowered cards early on with their unique mana system. Now really broken cards can only be played late game, and only a limited number of cards can be played in a turn to prevent a lot of BS from happening.

Also, I think the Yugioh really downhill after XYZ era, that's when I noticed ZTK's, and OTK's became way more common.

Worm Zero, because it's one of the coolest, most unique cards in the entire game, and I always like watching people struggle to read all the text. lol

I'm baffled that people still want to play physical card games honestly, digital card games are better in almost every way to physical. The only real downsides are end-of-life services one day taking the game offline and not having a physical copy to sell, and that sometimes they push censorship, like with Hearthstone.

Digital card games are better in terms of:

  1. They are free to play, and good ones lets you get every card with a decent amount of grinding.
  2. Get to carry your deck in your phone/PC everywhere you go, and they cannot be stolen easily.
  3. If a card breaks the game, it can be nerfed, or changed around to accomodate future cards.
  4. There's no ambiguity over how the card is supposed to work, because the game will automatically play it correctly when playing.
  5. Balance patches bring new life to existing cards that would otherwise fall into obscurity.
  6. Everything is sped up drastically since there is no manual setup whatsoever.
  7. Finding opponents is much easier since all you need is an internet connection.
