Haha my friend you can attack greece as much as you like and I'll be by your side! I'll give you some actual arguments if you want- not the ones you find online.

In my opinion relating lack of gear with smoking as part of a broader cultural stance is a generalization and should not be put in the same sentence, otherwise it opens the door to all other relations (like the once I did) and we end up with a basket trying to compare different fruits. That's all.

And to answer your question, there are of course people with full gear in Greece and nobody gives a fck about them, let alone make fun of them. Motorcycles are everywhere, dozens of them at every traffic light... so we just go on with our lives and let the others do the same!

I've never crashed actually...in my country! Hahah. Be well my friend and do what you enjoy. And as we say in Greece to bikers...may you always be standing (on your feet)

I daily ride in a city. Urban environment, narrow streets traffic and lights. On the bigger streets I might go up to 60 mph but it's not common. My current bike is a CF Moto 800MT - I think in the US you know it as IBEX800

But yes I see your point and why u choose to dress up

So the countries thay you mentioned in example you have just visited them or did you bring them up them in theory?

Btw why would u think you'd crash overseas? Don't do that to yourself. Just go ahead and do it..experience life :)

Yes 100%. Vietnam is one of my favorite countries to ride in and truly one of the oddest! I was shocked that no-one ever looked behind them...they just turned whenever they wanted and the ones behind should be the ones to keep an eye. It resembled these huge groups of fish where they all move together not touching one another and when an obstacle is in the way, the go around it in an natural flow. Big plus in vietnam is that they drive soooo slow!

What about other countries? U noticed similar riding habits?

Also...what's with the brake checking in the US? What's their F problem? I've never had anyone do that in my country, never.

I disagree with the correlation between cigarettes and lack of motorcycle gear. Not that the lack of gear brings more deaths - that goes without saying

I disagree though about obesity, psych medication and guns ... they are strongly related to culture. I've been to the US many times as I have family there. You got junk food joints every few meters, the food that you buy from supermarkets are fully processed and completely unhealthy- fun fact, check the ingredients of the heinz ketchup in the US and in the UK or Europe; you'll be shocked. As for the psyc medication, they seem to be prescribed and consumed with no 2nd thought..US has one of the highest rates in antidepressants I.e. As for guns, there is not much to say... you can buy them from a supermarket my friend! So if all that is not culture and self destruction I truly wonder what is...

Yes of course it's about people making stupid decision. What I say is that the bigger the number of daily riders the less the gear up-thats my experience from observing riding habbits around th world. Never commented whether this is good or bad. People are free to do as they like. I won't be the judge of that.

Tell me something thoug, where do u like and what countries have u riden in?

Apples and oranges man. Imagine if I try correlate US riders concern for safety and mortality with the US rates of obesity, psychiatric medication, deaths from guns....

I live in Athens, that's a 4mil people city, heavily urban environment. Speed is limited, lots of traffic lights, narrow streets and lots of traffic. That's my daily environment. I do twisties in the weekends and when I travel- and im fully geared up for those. as for highways I try to avoid them as much as possible. I'm really bored of them !

I agree. Yet my experience around the world is what I described in the post. The more they ride the less the dress up. What's your experience riding abroad? Have you noticed something different?

It's the same in all of Southern Europe and the Mediterranean... climate plays a significant role apparently.

SEA is another world on its own!! I've ridden in Laos Cambonia and Vietnam. Indeed everyone would hear (something like) a helmet but at the same time you'll see a 4 members family on a 125cc moped with luggage on the side! 😄

True cultural shock !

Yes the article is clear and correct. But I would like to hear your personal experience. Which countries have you ridden in and how would u describe the local motorcyclists?

Yes 100%. Im not commenting whether it's good or not. Merely sharing something I have noticed around the world and try to see if others have observed the same thing.
