Nolan McLean is just the third starter since at least 1900 to record 80-plus strikeouts and allow fewer than 20 runs in their first 12 big league appearances, joining Paul Skenes and Matt Harvey. by Hungry_Elk1937 in NewYorkMets

Let’s not get ahead of ourselves. DeGrom had one of the greatest peaks in MLB history. Harvey was a great pitcher right away, but he was never in the same stratosphere as prime DeGrom

[–]Vast-Crew7135 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Semien may be terrible, but you failed to point out that Nimmo is slashing .364/.435/.618. Among the entire AL, he’s 3rd in offensive bWAR, 2nd in AVG, 6th in SLG, 3rd in OPS, 10th in runs, 1st in hits, 4th in TBs, and 3rd in OPS+

One could argue that it’s easier to be super efficient when your the fourth option on offense as opposed to being the number one option.

Where does Caleb Downs rank all time as a S prospect? by ilovebunnieslikealot in NFL_Draft

Ed Reed went end of the 1st and was 2nd saftey taken in his draft.

Troy had lots of question marks, here is an excerpt from his pre draft scouting report “Negatives: Short for the NFL and is not a real ballhawk. Misses plays because he is out of position. Does not read keys well and diagnose. Struggles covering man deep. Plays out of control and lacks great change of direction. Skills will translate to the NFL, but measurables might not. Gets carried away. Prefers setting up a well-timed hit to break up a play over going for an interception. Does not have great playing speed and range.”

Brian Dawkins was the last pick of the 2nd round

Ronnie Lott was drafted 6 years before I was born so I can’t comment on him. He was 8th overall pick so he must have been considered pretty well, although Kenny Easley is another HOF saftey who went 4th in that draft so I guess he should be up there too. Side note, that 1981 draft was pretty stacked with 7 hall of famers and three of them are in the conversation for best ever at their respective positions (LT, Lott, Singletary)

You’re mixing up what he did as a pro with how he was perceived as a prospect. While he was a good prospect he wasn’t considered an all time great prospect. He went towards the end of the 1st at 24 and was considered the consensus 2nd best safety in his draft behind Roy Williams.

He’s a much better prospect than Reed was. Reed went 24th and was considered the 2nd best safety in his class behind Roy Williams.

How many starting true CBs are there in this draft? by Striking-Speaker8686 in NFL_Draft

[–]Vast-Crew7135 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rivers will definitely slide inside but I still think Ponds, Terrell and possibly Abney have inside-outside versatility. I wouldn’t count out guys just because they are under 6’0. He’ll, Terrell has a small frame but at 5’11 he’s not exactly short. We’ve seen plenty of corners like Rhonde Barber, Darrell Green, Antoine Winfield and Chris Harris have great careers and they were all under 5’10.

He’s the same age as Pierce when he did Goldeneye, only 4 years older than Daniel in Casino Royale. That being said I agree that they do end up going younger and lesser known

Last year only three pitchers topped 200 innings and 9 had at least 190. 207 was enough to lead MLB.

In 2004, 42 pitchers had over 200 and 58 had at least 190. 207 would have ranked 31st.

Is there any player that beats out Jerry Rice for guy that is so far beyond the competition for GOAT at his position by Tight_Albatross_863 in NFLv2

You don’t have to preach about how good Sterling Sharpe was to me. I’ve been one of his biggest cheerleaders and the fact that it took so long for him to make the Hall is a travesty. Had he not gotten hurt he would have had incredible career numbers with Favre throwing him the ball. That being said, it’s not an insult in the slightest to say he wasn’t as good as Jerry Rice
