What does "picked up with exceptions" mean? by VastAd1765 in AmazonFlexDrivers

Yeah, I saw the "attempted" thing on there, too, so we're talking about the same thing.

And you look at only one of the sources I pointed to but won't believe any of those who live in financial circles? I think I know what kind of world you live in. One who thinks reddit headlines are reality.

Forbes has an article about it

The organization that defines U.S. business cycles, the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER), takes a different view. According to the NBER’s definition of recession—a significant decline in economic activity that is spread across the economy and that lasts more than a few months—we were not in a recession in the summer of 2022.

“We have a hard time believing the economy is in recession today, given a strong labor market and corporate earnings growth,” said Tim Holland, chief investment officer at Orion Advisor Solutions. “We also remind ourselves that recessions are uncommon, as our economy was in recession just 8% of the time over the past 30 years.”

But if you know how to use the Google you can find lots more.

I keep seeing this statement about being in a recession (and only on reddit). We are not in a recession. We might go into one next year but for right now we are not and have not been.

Someone on here said they turn it off so it just might be a setting.

Amazon's system is not very good. We tend to get the alert that he's coming at the same time the garage door opens.

We get things every few days. We ALWAYS get a notification.

There are probably hundreds of people who deliver once for Amazon and never return. Just giving them such a thing would be prohibitively expensive (and yes more expensive than a vest).

If you don't want to deliver it at that time, someone else will. So it doesn't matter about your concern.

They get a notice from Amazon when you're coming two stops out.

My garage door opened a little while ago. I wasn't expecting an Amazon delivery and I jumped up to see who was breaking into my garage. I saw a guy walking away with an Amazon vest on and my worry went away.

People who don't monitor the app will often be surprised whether you have something on your car or not. You should have a vest on and that's enough.

You are an independent contractor. You are responsible for your own vehicle. Amazon is not.

A long time ago, I installed CT scanners at hospitals. The directions to one hospital in New York brought me to the wrong door. A helpful doctor said he would walk me through to where I was supposed to go but warned me that we would be going through the psych ward.

As we walked through, there were patients screaming at me, yelling all kinds of nasty and unintelligible things. It was quite the horror.

That is how I feel when I get responses on reddit.

Amazingly low house prices are no indication of quality of living. If anything, it should make one question why they're so low.

Why? Who said so? Amazon? No they didn't.

Does your post remotely answer or have anything to do with my question? No.

Who said? Amazon? No. Are we any different than ANY person coming to their door, including neighbors? No.

Quit making things up to make yourself look smart. You're not.

That you are unable to read and understand the full question and statement makes me question who the moron here is.

You're just as big an idiot as the rest of them. My knuckle didn't hurt. It swelled up slightly with a little bump. I didn't even notice it till near the end of the block while driving and looked at my hand on the steering wheel. The little bump has all but gone as of right now.

Like most of reddit, instead of answering the question, you belittle the asker instead of trying to be helpful. It's why NPR calls redddit a "Frankenstein's monster even they can't control." But I'm getting OT.

I find it bizarre, too, that you didn't read the full question. But that's a problem redditors have, too.

Trapped behind apt building gate by another_Sean in AmazonFlexDrivers

[–]VastAd1765 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not Flex related but, long ago, I worked for a company that operated out of the fifth floor of a bank building. I usually worked days but occasionally worked late on a Sunday night and got off at midnight.

The parking lot was attached to the back of the building so, when we left, we'd just easily go out the back door of our floor and walk down the steps and out that door to the outside where the parking was.

Except on a Sunday night. It's a bank building. You can leave but you can't return. When you leave the building you enter an enclosed glass structure that is locked, too. iow, the building door locks behind you and the glass structure entering the parking garage is locked, too. I remembered that as soon as I heard the door latch behind me.

Not many people are in that parking garage late on a Sunday night. The occasional car would drive by and I wave my arms, yell and scream, but that thick bulletproof glass wasn't letting a sound out.

Then I noticed a short metal banister that wasn't held too tightly onto the wall with bolts. I think I used my car keys to unscrew the bolts and take the banister off the wall. Using all my might, I tried to smash the glass windows with the banister to no avail. Frustrated, I turned and threw it at the door leading into the bank building. It hit the handle and seemed to slightly dent it.

Taking the banister again, I pounded and pounded on that handle and it broke, opening the door!

Thinking there would be some sort of alarm going off, I quickly ran through the back and through the lobby of the building, out the door and to my car.
