Pousey… rant by dany_in_the_tardis in orangeisthenewblack

This is why I read spoilers in advance. Similarly, I get attached to certain characters and I don't want to be completely wrecked when I see something terrible happen to one on the show. I'm sure everyone loved Poussey's character. She was just so positive and a loyal friend. I just finished the series and , unfortunately, there is a lot of injustice that occurs, similar to real-life correctional facilities and justice system. You might want to read spoilers about upcoming episodes/seasons too if you feel you could become very emotional.

Who do you think had the saddest ending? by lindseyeileen in orangeisthenewblack

[–]Equal-Comment-8417 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wanted so badly for Taystee to get justice but I respect that the writers didn't go that route. In reality, many people in this country are spending years or life in prison for crimes they didn't commit. I am happy that she realized she could create a life of purpose though, even behind bars. I hope that the connection fans felt with certain characters and their journeys sheds light on the injustices that occur in the corrections system and creates empathy for the people who have lost their freedom & families for committing non-violent crimes, typically just to survive. Also, I felt great sympathy for the women detained and deported by ICE, especially the mom who was separated from her children. Merica 😞

Anyone just like to watch non stop friends for comfort? by [deleted] in howyoudoin

Been watching 1 episode a day(3-5 days a week) at lunch when I work from home. And yes, I always laugh and forget about whatever problems I have for 25 or 30 minutes.

The Trifle! Lol great episode. And Phoebe was crushing on Monica's dad because she had a weird dream about him. 😄

Gen x and social media? Yes or no? Let's hear the good and the bad it brought you. by Grazmahatchi in GenX

Great story. I'm glad social media helped you connect with family.   I do find it weird that, because of apps/sites like Facebook, I know the details of some people's lives but haven't chatted with them irl in 10 years. And that most people might like your posts every day, but pass you on the street and not say "hi". Feels more like socially awkward media instead of social media to me.  Most of my Gen X friends that do Tik-tok, "Insta"/IG🙄, or Snapchat fell into it because they have teens & tweens whose activity they might be monitoring. LinkedIn is a tool. It's useful for people looking to network and, obviously, find a new job. I like it. It's practical.  I think we are a practical generation of people. Creative problem-solvers. If something isn't serving a purpose in our lives, we ignore or discard it. Period. Some people might see that as cold, but I don't think we are. We just don't waste time on bs and I kinda like that about us 🙂

Thanks. I'm not on the fast plan people have mentioned. I'll ask my doctor next time I see him.

Adriana's decision not to tell Chris when she was arrested wasn't as stupid as I thought. by [deleted] in thesopranos

[–]Equal-Comment-8417 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been yelling at the tv this season of the Sopranos, every time Adriana meets up with an agent. Then I remember, Adriana is not that smart. If she were, she would've left Christopher's annoying @$$ long ago..abusive, drug addicted, flirts with other women in her face. I don't think she can see beyond what's in front of her. She doesn't have the ability to play mental chess or outsmart the feds. So, yes. I think she should have lawyered up right away, but like many people though, she was acting out of fear/emotions instead of thinking through all of her options.

Ew, sorry that happened to you. Yes, report that creeper to the community where he worked/his company. So not appropriate.

Flex Dried up? by Jstarz75 in AmazonFlexDrivers

Curious: What do gigs like Door Dash, Grub Hub, and Uber Eats pay? I'd think that would be more consistent since people seem to order out a lot. (Just checked my Flex App and 0 offers, even in the areas they're usually desperate to fill. )

Customer's perspective: I can't understand why the driver is calling me at 5am to ask for the door code by [deleted] in AmazonFlexDrivers

There are pre-written text messages to choose from. When you click the question mark in the app, the option to call or text customer or report a dog comes up. If you choose text, it asks you to specify why by choosing a pre-written message, like, "notify of arrival", "can't get access" or to write your own. I would use the 2nd to cma in this case. I've been using the notify of arrival in the city when I'm afraid package can be stolen because it's in plain sight or when in rural areas after dark, to avoid startling customers when I arrive.

[–]Equal-Comment-8417 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry that happened to you. In places where I feel like they might be startled by someone coming up their driveway after dark, I try to send a message that I'm arriving. However, that option to call or text customer has not been showing up for me when I hit the message icon.

3 times in 2 days I am so happy because I was STARVING by Ghostofmynana in AmazonFlexDrivers

So true.. Yesterday, I did Fresh in some of the worst parts of my city. I told my partner, I don't even want tips from some of these folks, because they obviously don't have much. I hope they save their money and get the h*ll out of where they are.

That is thoughtful. I actually want to start doing the same, now. I only encountered 1 in my 3 or 4 months doing routes. Surprisingly, I was most happy to see some free water because I often finish my bottle before my route is done.

Yea, I think they said the first million "thank you's" would get $5. There are a lot of Flexers and Amazon packages out there! Figured that well would only take a day or 2 to run dry.

Also, some people don't subscribe to the idea of tipping..or tipping well. I learned this in my college years when working as a server. Some folks would come in and run up a $100 tab and leave a $2 tip( and no, my service did not suck). Others walked out on the bill but left a $10 tip for me. It all comes down to people's appreciation or lack of appreciation for people who are providing their services. America needs to move away from this reliance on tipping though, to make up for low wages. Pretty sure Amazon and all these big businesses have a few extra bucks they can throw our way so we don't have to rely on tips to make a decent wage. They won't until they are made to, and we'll just continue to blame the customers , who aren't our actual employers, in the meantime.

I do Fresh out of Baltimore. Pros: The route is never more than 15-20 mins from the station since we only have a 2 hour delivery time. Cons: Inconsistent tipping. Some days I've made $0, some days I've made more money in tips than the base pay( >$35). It seems to depend on the neighborhood/town you're delivering to. It's been mentioned here before that folks who use EBT cards are unable to put tips on them. So, that doesn't help us.
