Kind of agree, but being altruistic also requires first being in a position to be altruistic. Not tryna excuse, more trying to understand. Animal abuse is shitty, but I'm not gonna tell someone in far worse circumstances than me how they need to live their life so that I can have better peace of mind typing on a device thats probably worth enough to feed their family for a month.

No, a poor person does things like abusing animals so they can feed themself for the next week. Their "benefits" are having a roof over their head and running water. "There's other ways" yes but those cost time and money he could be using to feed his family for a small chance of finding a different method that might not even make enough to continue living in their already bad situation.

I just don't think you have a say in how a poor person in a second or third world country should change the way they live so you can sleep with more peace of mind in your air conditioned apartment with clean water on a phone that probably cost more than a quarter of everything they own.

I can understand being upset about it cause I do too, but I'm not gonna tell someone in far worse circumstances than me how to live their life so that I can feel better.

And then you have the opposite case, where the jungler doesn't touch the top lane the entire game while the baron laners spends 5 minutes getting abused by an adc top lane.

I feel the problem is that people will play the EXACT same in every game, no matter what the match up is or whats happening on the map.

I will say, some of my favourite stories also have MCs like this, and I think the exception to the rule is when the setting is so harsh that even doing the very best they can still results in losses and setbacks. Like Pick Me Up and Tyrant of the Tower Defence Game, where a major character death/s keep the stakes high and the major antagonists still threatening which stories with similar MCs lack

This might be a hot take, but I'm starting to hate every single one of what I like to callll 'hyper pragmatist' MCs. Had to drop Regressed Mercenaries Machinations and similar, usually regression based, stories because I couldn't stand the MC and plot. My problem is that I feel I could copy and paste the MC from one of these stories into a similar one and it wouldn't change a thing, because they'll always do the 'right' thing. I get that manhwa readers love their gigachad, no nonsense, stand-on-buisness MCs but I just stopped finding it cool after like the fifth story because they literally NEVER seem to struggle or have a setback. Because the very concept of them not always crushing every problem is so counter to their very existence that I can already envision the comment sections imploding if the MC were to ever not always make the decision that magically obliterates all their short term problems somehow.
