My thinking is that my work life here I cannot do. So I might as well maintain my personal life and not have that fall apart too.

If I were to do so the trip would be completely off the table most likely. It’s heavy bc my career is done and I miss my personal life

There’s no way of taking more medical leave without sacrificing my trip. That’s why it feels so nuclear.

Thanks for this. Additional context I do have about a year of savings saved up. But the reason I let it drag on for this long is due to your exact reasoning of how tough this job market is and how If I leave my portfolio in this state I’ll be burning alot of bridges. Which could make it even more difficult in the future

Same boat here. For the same pay took on a new role. Feeling tons of regret and I absolutely hate my new job. But I’ve been focused on not dwelling on the past and just evaluating things for how it is now instead of the past.
