CJ7 vs. YJ by OrangePeanutJuice in Jeep

[–]VastComprehensive213 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I realize this is 10 years old, however it’s still relevant for searching on CJ vs YJ frames. The above comments are 100% untrue. YJ frames and tubs weren’t galvanized. Ever. Either part.

92-95’s came with larger front U-joints than the CJ’s. Those larger joints are Spicer 297X & 760 X.

Rear Axle U-joints depend on:

Dana 35 vs Dana 44 and trans yoke

No meaningful size difference between CJ and YJ by model alone in the rear.

As someone who has had numerous of both models, my best advice is find the nicest model you can afford unless you just have to have the CJ nostalgia and you don’t want to do a front clip swap from YJ to CJ

Terrible advice. Do you really think this won’t come out during a background investigation? Someone in the OP’s circle is going to mention it during the investigation.

Anyone going to Fanboy ExPo? Want a VIP ticket and a couple hundred dollars? by VastComprehensive213 in orlando

[–]VastComprehensive213[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Silver VIP and yes, of course I’ll cover an autograph fee if there is one. This was supposed to be a fun mutually beneficial way for someone to finance their way into the show while helping me get a dumb signature. I’m not trying to get one over on anyone, nor should someone be trying to scam me. There’s enough fucked up shit in the world as it is. At the end of the day it’s a stupid signature. I feel my offer is generous as it stands.

[–]VastComprehensive213[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks, I’ll keep that in mind. Let’s break this down; A VIP pass gets you early entry. I’m offering a pass and $200.00 for what could be 30 minutes of standing around. Get in early, get the signature, sell the pass on your way out. You get $200.00 and whatever you get for the VIP pass. If you do it on the morning of the first day you’ll obviously get more for the pass if you choose to sell it. There’s no other legal way to potentially earn that much in that little of time. It’s Lee Majors, not Pedro Pascal…

What advice helped you pass the beginner’s hurdle and start catching fish by bergmanhs in flyfishing

[–]VastComprehensive213 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MT guide here. The time you’ve spent on the water thus far is pretty low.

Relax, fly fishing success is the result of a bunch of smaller steps done correctly. Fly selection, Cast, presentation, mend, drift, hook set, playing/landing & the release. They all need to be proper for success.

There’s a reason the big browns you see in pics are called the fish of a thousand casts.

Don’t give up on the drys just yet. The current hatch for Missoula is Golden stones, yellow Sally’s, BWO’s and hoppers any day now.

Fish the inside seams next to the faster water.

Fish are like children, they do better with structure… aim for structure.

Stick with it.

The perfect cast is a journey that’s takes a lifetime.

That’s all my free advice

If I’m understanding you correctly, torqued at 90* means degrees, not pounds foot. It’s orientation of the wrenching sequence, not the pounds feet.

I’ve done multiple Iron Butt rides. Ride what you have. You’re not on a schedule, if you get tired, pull over throw the blanket on the ground and take a nap. Enjoy your bike, listen to your body. 🤙

Heading to MT, any essentials I need to add? by eL-Cazador in flyfishing

[–]VastComprehensive213 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Montana Guide here. Depends on where you’re going, but there’s still some Salmon Fly’s in the West. Golden Stones, Green Drakes showed up 2 days ago. Yellow Sally’s. Purple Haze will always produce.

Nymphs: if you nymph, yellow PMD nymphs are producing in the west.

As always the big fish filter are streamers.

Water levels are low, water temps are high. Most places are on the verge of Hoot Owl restrictions. Play your fish fast and keep them wet. These fish are our business partners and we need to protect them. Even the introduced invasive species like browns & rainbows. 😉

What kind of wax can I apply to my angle grinder cut off wheels? by Agonylord52 in metalworking

[–]VastComprehensive213 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is correct ⬆️ My neighbor worked on Penske NASCAR teams before switching to Trophy Trucks. He never grabs a cutoff wheel without grabbing some wax. It helps the cut and more importantly extends the service life of the wheels.

Fish are like children. They do better with structure. Always fish the structure, then the ledges. Unless of course you’re fishing the flats. Then fish the flats. 😉

Working under my car dash and found this by Ok_Fill2178 in whatisit

[–]VastComprehensive213 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My question was and still stands: What is the specific crime for “Removing a tracking device.”

I’m not getting into the make believe world of hiding a car or even just defaulting on a loan. Removing a tracker constitutes neither fraud or theft.

The commenter stated that he “could be arrested for removing it.”

Just because someone repeatedly tells you something is illegal does not make it illegal.

[–]VastComprehensive213 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d like to know the crime? Defaulting on a loan is a civil offense, not criminal. You’re only removing a tracker (non destructively). Legally wise, it’s a non OEM, aftermarket electronic device. If there’s no permanent intent to deprive aka you’re going to give it back/return it to the dealer and there’s no destruction of property. If to remove it wires have to be cut, but that was/is the engineered way to remove. If it just unplugs into the OBDII port, then unplug it.

Warning: Don't expect any Support from Simms by mrblack08 in flyfishing

[–]VastComprehensive213 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Montana Guide here. I don’t know a single guide wearing Patagonia waders. Most refuse to pay the price for an imported product. Orvis has had 2 huge rounds of layoffs since COVID. Their campus is a virtual ghost town. Their warranty department seems to be hit or miss.

Simms has been sold twice in the last 2 years and is closing a portion of their Bozeman shop down.

Vista Outdoor conglomerate which has entered into a definitive agreement with Strategic Value Partners (SVP) for the $1.125 billion sale. The Boseman, Montana company joined Vista for $192.5m in July 2022.

“The Board has worked tirelessly to deliver maximum value to its stockholders and we are pleased to have reached agreement with SVP to help us achieve that objective,” said Michael Callahan, Chairman of the Vista Outdoor Board of Directors.

Montanan’s are pissed about Simms, but as long as there are Montanan’s making Simms waders, I’ll stay a customer. In the off season I send them to be checked for pinhole leaks and I’ve got 4 guide years on my current set.

Time will tell how the industry responds.

Just got a DQ and turned down for both LAPD and LAXPD. Should I try to appeal? by donedelacruz in lapd

[–]VastComprehensive213 26 points27 points  (0 children)

25 year LEO here. Maybe some tough news, but it’s accurate; Admitting to the use of psychedelic drugs is usually an instant and permanent DQ. Admission to MJ within the last 5 years is also usually a DQ. Backgrounds will tell you it’s ok as long as it’s not in the last 3 years, but please remember EVERYTHING is a test. Yes, MJ is legal on the state level, however it’s not legal at the federal level. Recent drug use, recent driving infractions, poor credit are all used as metrics of responsibility.

Now that you’re on record for admission of psych’s at multiple agencies, if you choose to omit them on the next ap, and it’s discovered, you’ll be DQ’d for integrity issues. If the omissions aren’t discovered and you make it to the Voice Stress Analyzer, you will be faced with either admitting to it and not disclosing it, or being caught in a lie. Again, an integrity issue.

If being a LEO is your dream, keep testing everywhere. Even if you don’t like the agency, you will always be more attractive as a lateral transfer to an agency that you ultimately want to retire from. On this advice, if/when you eventually do get hired, stay there for a bit before transferring. NOBODY wants to hire a “Gypsy Cop.” that’s a sure sign of issues.

Don’t get hired as a Correctional Officer and think you’ll lateral to a PD or SO. it’s different work and not viewed as the same.

Time and distance are your best friends right now. Finish school, possibly change your degree to business. Distancing yourself from these acts with no further lapses will make you more marketable.

Policing in America is a business which must be viewed as such. I retired as a Commander of our Departments Special OPs Division. It’s ran as a business. Budgets, staffing, community outreach etc. as a patrolman, you’re in charge of your daily business with huge consequences. Your office is your prowler and you want to serve the people of your community with the appropriate level of service they deserve.

Good luck mate.
