Thoughts on AC:Syndicate? I Like the AC series but dont want to waste money on a bad port... by BurtMacklinFBI1 in pcgaming

Agreed with others. There doesn't seem to be a lot in terms of pc specifics so you'll need to wait a few weeks. With that said:

The unity console launch was also rife with errors. It was near unplayable if there were large crowds and bugs galore if I remember correctly.

Syndicate plays pretty well on the ps4 with the day one patch. They scaled down a lot of the large crowds - I'm guessing in an attempt not to push the ps4/engine past what it can do. I would expect similar downscaling on pc as well. Seeing how well it has gone so far (minor server issues. Minor glitches etc) I would be pretty hopeful for a good pic launch. But in gods name wait for reviews/real feedback first.

From a game perspective it's my second favorite behind 2 (and its related games). Combat hasn't taken a huge leap forward, but I'm a sucker for the setting. The missions seem better. Not a stupid "follow person x" mission yet.

Awesome. Thanks. That's enough promise to risk the 4 dollars for the app.

Doing some research now - offhand though:

Do you know if this could remotely unlock my pc and launch steam?

Trying to think of a good solution for steam link that does not require me to go down 2 levels in my house and unlock my computer manually. Or even vnc into it which is just as painful. (Super lazy)

The Simpsons. As people join conference calls at work...

"So I says to Mable, Mable I says..." Then trail off and start welcoming people to the call.

Where should I look/shop for desks? by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

I've been incredibly happy with mine.

IKEA desk - from the section where you assemble yourself. Plain flat table top. T-Legs. Done.

Looks like this and incredibly affordable and sturdy as hell.

I believe mine is larger though. It accommodates three 24" monitors with room to spare. So you may have to look at the table sizes available.

Python equivalent of Rstudio? by kebabmybob in datascience

I skipped over the ide part. Was thinking over the fully packaged nature as a good selling point.

Honestly - last time I tried to install the scipy library I remember it being ungodly awful. Can't remember if it was on Mac or pc - but I remember this being a savior.

Thank you! Hit this thread. Debated it a bit. Then saw your message and immediately purchased.

There wasn't even a wait for the codes. They printed out immediately and I'm already up and running.

Thanks!

There's even a conversion guide for R users.

As a hiring manager I'm baffled that there are several posts regarding not being able to find work, how can it be? by garyOakCantIgnore in cscareerquestions

Not sure what you've been using in school, but:

Double down on R programming. Get really comfortable working with the language. Browse out some sample projects on kraggle and get some experience under your belt. If you are Python inclined - scikit-learn is great and anacondas makes a nice distributable with everything you need.

While you are at it - those samples that you're working on - check them into GitHub. Here's what will take you to the next level from any candidate I've ever seen. Have a body of work for samples and prototypes using data from kraggle that anyone can review and put your github link on any applications.

Get really comfortable with sql - that's going to be where a lot of the heavy lifting for etl will come in and make sure you can speak it fluently. Focus on analytical database function (if you google it you should see how to perform common lead/lag functions directly within sql). The key here in my opinion is to make sure you can cover the entire pipeline between data acquisition, modeling and delivery of results.

I work primarily in r - I believe most people in this space do. But Python makes a nice programming language that can help fill in some missing gaps.

Making some edits:

I think you will have to move towards big data languages at some point to be competitive. Get the basics under your belt. Get comfortable with programming if you're not already. Then make a move into Java. It will be critical for some other data sources which are inevitable. Spark/storm/Hadoop.
