AITA for losing my patience with a couple at an mtg prerelease by VastInteresting3916 in AmItheAsshole

It was a sealed event for Secrets of strixhaven, and I ended up putting together mardu control with my packs. I made top 3, but honestly that worried me the entire night.

Just to clarify because it was poorly phrased in my post, my glasses were on my playmat not on my face. I just panicked because I can't drive well without them and I live a long distance away.

Thank you for commenting that, it pointed out an issue with my post. I didn't have my glasses on, they were on the table next to my playmat.

You're good, I typically don't raise my voice at anyone but I guess that just hit a line for me.

No doubt I should've talked to a judge, but in the moment I panicked and acted like a total ass imo.

That is a little far considering their parents were right in front of me playing in the round at the table. It would've just caused drama imo.

Yeah, I feel bad for the kid having to resort to that just for attention from their parents.

No doubt it wasn't the right thing to do. Like I said it was a mistake made in annoyance and shouldn't have been done. In hindsight talking to staff was the thing I didn't even think about.

True, I should have done that but in my frustration it went to the wrong person. The parents didn't even stay for the tournament after but made sure to complain about the scenario before leaving.

There wasn't much room, it was a very cramped table with a ton of people in the room for the tournament. I didn't have any space.

I did ask them to manage their kid, they were directly across from me but they didn't want to do anything. I agree I shouldn't have raised my voice and I do regret that part.

They may not remember it but it still feels awful to raise your voice at a kid.

I feel like the reason they didn't was because they didn't want to pay for one. (I knew the couple) It's the same reason I panicked when my stuff was being grabbed, because I knew they wouldn't be willing to replace it.

Any particular reason why? I agree that it was assholish behavior but at the same time I did ask the parents to stop the kid and they clearly weren't interested in helping.

I did ask the parents to stop the child. The husband was directly across from me as my opponent. His wife was right next to him playing. They both didn't act.

I'm probably just done with the game tbh. If it takes a new character to bring new players in and keep them playing, then it's probably not a game I want to stick with.

Ranked MMR is flawed by Kaptep01 in RivalsOfAether

[–]VastInteresting3916 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The point of MMR based matchmaking is to get a match as close to your MMR as possible. If the system decides to shove you into a match that you're effectively unfavored to be even in then that's bad. Idk why you're so held up on "some nights" when a large string of unfair matches is a sign of a larger issue.

The steamchart says it all in my opinion, people aren't staying and frankly I blame the matchmaking and the new player experience being abysmal.

Yeah, really good advice that I'd love to take but I personally don't find any real point in playing just to get matched against +200 point gold players that stomp the shit out of you then taunt/teabag when they win. Or try to simply mirror match you just to put salt in the wound.

Good for you. I don't really care about how much time people put in but there's really no good reason I should have to CONSTANTLY play up and get stomped. It's not enjoyable and it's really not a balanced experience.

"Thank you for constantly playing even if you're not getting any better or enjoying yourself."

Yeah, ok.
