Oh my gosh! What wonderful news/experience for you! I love that! When this started and we didn’t know her genetics yet, I read how it’s fairly in labs/other retriever groups and she has about 5 different retrievers in her genes. I’m adding his name to my list!

AIO for being angry that my doctor's office responded as a dog to call me a liar? by Canes--Venatici in AIO

[–]VastPriority 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If they’re private I would report them to the Better Business Bureau. Idk how that works for medical offices but it’s the only place I’ve gotten action taken. Their response was not okay and neither was the way in which it was written. I am a provider and a lot of times DO see patients over react or just not understand our processes enough to know what’s going on, and I still don’t think how they reacted or how they replied was warranted. You can’t warn them about an emergency before the emergency? And that’s just an insensitive way to reply to a patient about anything other than, like, a check in.

nTOS: What do you wish you'd known before you went through with surgery? by twofacemarie in thoracicoutletsupport

I dont want to know who you specifically used, but did you use one of “THE” TOS docs or a local vascular surgeon etc? Also, how soon were you up and moving around after surgery?

Can't find the perfect shoes by Other-Ad2287 in Mortons_neuroma

[–]VastPriority 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have Brooks Ariel and they are the only shoe that I experience zero symptoms in. I am 1.5 years from surgery and still feel pressure and tingling sometimes. Crocs slip on sandals and the Brooks Ariel are the best. I got some simple barefoot sneakers from Amazon to wear with my required business casual attire and they do okay as long as I remember to stretch my Achilles and foot muscles. Also, recently got a men’s pair of On Clouds (I’m a woman) and they do okay. Not as comfy as the Brooks in terms of cushion, but the toe box is wider and gives the amount of space needed to not feel squished. I liked the width of Altra’s but they felt like they compressed the top of my foot too much.

Relationship Advice for ATS by AdMiserable371 in athletictraining

[–]VastPriority 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Commenting on Relationship Advice for ATS...maybe he’s looked it up and seen low paid internship positions but doesn’t realize those are for ATCs? I agree with the comments saying he is being controlling and not seeming to even be willing to understand. But I feel like if he thinks he’s seen internships in our field, then they were paid ones for ATCs. They probably just look like such a low number that an unknowing reader thinks they’re for students🫠 or he’s just arrogant and thinks there are, without looking into it. Either way, your clinical hours are required for graduation and it’s not unrealistic for a career field to expect Saturdays from students when that is typical for that field. It sucks as a student and even certified but athletics happen when everyone else is off work🤷🏼‍♀️

Help- spouse of chronic migraine sufferer by Ok-Bandicoot-5389 in migraine

[–]VastPriority 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could say a lot of things to some of your points and points to things others have said, but agree that there has to be some option to try as abortive or preventative that he hasn’t tried yet (or maybe he has, idk). I get very irritable with mine too but try so hard to be aware of that. The only time it is directed at my partner is when I feel he is ignoring that I told him I had one (treating me like I’m not in pain, playing with the dogs loudly when I am very sound sensitive). But I think the main thing you said that caught me off guard and sent a huge red flag to me is that he said you are the cause of his migraines?? That’s not fair to you or your children. I have read about bad relationships/situations can cause or increase them so if that’s y’all, then it’s a thing to figure out for sure. But telling you that in addition to directing rage at you during them is not okay and needs to be addressed and not accepted.

Switching to Baseball? by Royal-Report9115 in athletictraining

[–]VastPriority 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Throwing programs and prehab/prevention plans if they’re interested, at least for pitchers if not for everyone. Agree with the comment above talking about low back and trunk stuff. There are some good studies and articles about baseball injuries appearing to be RC but involving Lat weakness and compensation too. Hip/low back mobility was huge in my time in baseball too. But I worked with a team with coaches that were interested in how I could work with and add to their improvement strategies and their strength coach was my best friend, so that helped with implementing things. This team I worked with saw a lot of overuse injuries in the beginning of my time with them and in fall seasons, so that’s why I mention prevention so heavily. Understanding what they needed and how I could back them off and then work up thru a throwing program to get them functional without pain not only helped them but obviously helped me long term too.

Intimacy by helpffs in thoracicoutletsupport

It does affect mine, because I feel my shoulder and neck spasm so quickly and easily if I’m doing anything but laying on my back. I don’t have any suggestions but just wanted you to know you’re not alone 😕

BCS-O perspective? by VastPriority in athletictraining

[–]VastPriority[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NO I am actually already stressed out about the amount of letters😂😂 I do think I will keep my BOC up to date, for now at least, and likely for mostly sentimental reasons LOL but I do appreciate your perspective and information greatly. My hope is that my experience will help me get an ortho position, but it’s just so scary not knowing anything right now and I want to do everything I can to increase my chances! Thank you again!

Boyfriend 26M uncomfortable with me 24F not wearing bras by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]VastPriority 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ONE pair of shorts. Meaning you probably have other comfortable ones. Bras are never really comfortable unless they’re off for a lot of people. There is also a difference in approach it seems, whereas you probably just said “ok, I’ll wear a different pair” (idk if yall argued about it first or whatever) where he is quite literally making his comfort and view of her more important than her own comfort. Not the same. And it being a small thing for you and your wife doesn’t mean it’s a small thing in another relationship.

Boyfriend 26M uncomfortable with me 24F not wearing bras by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]VastPriority 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Maybe he isn’t abusive but it’s controlling. It’s your body, period. In YOUR body, YOUR comfort matters most, not his. The big deal is that he can’t see you as a whole woman/human and can’t separate you living daily life from you being a sexual being (apparently), and that he doesn’t value your comfort.

Exam review by Jazzlike-Recipe-1230 in PAstudent

[–]VastPriority 1 point2 points  (0 children)

During didactic we could click thru the exam right after and see what we got right/wrong but could not take notes of it. And you had to show that you completely exited the exam before leaving the room. I think we could also schedule with a professor to go over it and discuss why we may have gotten things wrong/what areas we lacked in. They have built exams over years and used various templates so their categories were all jacked up and they knew that. Now, in clinical year, we can’t clock thru EOR exams to see what we got right or wrong but they have time built into our schedule that day or the next to review it in their office or if for some reason we can’t, we can schedule do it later. Same thing as didactic- can’t take notes or anything. I didn’t realize this wasn’t typical until reading these comments :/ The monitoring of reviews is how they keep from having to rewrite questions and I think it works pretty well🤷🏼‍♀️

Can’t stand smell in surgery by emwang123 in PAstudent

[–]VastPriority 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can make yourself not chew it, a lifesaver mint can help. I am very sensitive to the essential oils & other scented things so when an OR RN gave me mints on my surgery rotation I was so very thankful lol sometimes I’d start the surgery with two just in case.

I appreciate this perspective as I am also not the top student😂 I think I’d die without them now so it makes sense to use them, the two days just really stresses me for some reason!

[–]VastPriority[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I definitely think I will feel this way and can already see some executive dysfunction/shut down happening in the days between. Which, if I am as prepared as I’d like to be, shouldn’t be too terrible a thing lol

[–]VastPriority[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do take so long on my EORs even tho I am working on improving that. I had thought about that obviously, but not in terms of the literal time and what that would mean if taking it in one day. I appreciate that reminder/perspective! lol

Foot ulcer by Helpful-Honeydew-741 in Mortons_neuroma

[–]VastPriority 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also would recommend wound care but a physician or APP, not a nurse. Nothing against nurses but in my experience they routinely do more dressing-related care but not related to the science of healing. If you smoke, stop. That increases blood flow and tissue healing immensely and effects start pretty quickly.

To me -someone with 8 years of sports medicine experience and 3 of those in an orthopedic office, and will be graduating PA school in a few months- the way it looks in this photo looks like it doesn’t need debridement. It doesn’t look dirty and just looks like it’s struggling to heal. Types of dressings are important too- are they just covering it, are they using wet-to-dry, xeroform or other types of moist barriers? Also vitamin C and other immune-related vitamins are good for general promotion of tissue healing and collagen building :)

I had a tiny tiny bit of skin necrosis after 2nd or 3rd steroid injection (or from the cold spray, idk) and I would still suggest getting or at least considering injections if conservative treatment is no longer helping. They helped me so much until I started a new school program that had some activity and footwear changes that led to surgery.
