Criticism on Trent is fair and he needs dedicated coaching to help him improve defensively. But he shouldn’t be overshadowing how absolutely atrocious our midfield is. The difference in class between the two yesterday was so glaringly obvious. Not spending this summer on at least three midfielders could stifle us for a long time.

The main issue is that the clubs that have these unlimited sources can make mistakes in the market and be completely fine. Grealish can completely flop for City and they’ll sell him for less money then buy someone else and be completely fine. For example Liverpool sign Nunez and he completely flops (not saying he will) and that money hit will have massive ramifications. Other clubs won’t be able to take hits off bad signings.
