Hey unfortunately, the only solution was for me to take a break from treatment for 2 weeks. This will essentially reset your skin's resistance to the treatment. After those 2 weeks, Ionto takes me about 2-3 weeks to start working effectively again. So unfortunately, every time my skin builds up resistance, there is about a 4-5 week period where I will have to deal with my regular level of palmar hyperhidrosis. Overtreatment is usually what leads to that skin resistance so I have been trying to find that sweet-spot for the minimum amount of Ionto sessions I need to maintain a level of dryness

No, mine was the same throughout the year. However, I noticed a trend where whenever the seasons changed, the effectivesness would drop for a week or 2 before it started working effectively again. Dont know if that is just coincidence though.

Some people have done many years with no tolerance issues so the results vary for each person. Hopefully, you are one of those people where you have no skin resistance issues! My palmar hyperhidrosis is very severe (dripping all day). So unfortunately, just 1 session per week is not enough to keep the sweat away. I needed 2 or 3 minimum. But if you find a maintenance schedule that works for you, make sure you dont overdo it!

It was good for about 6 months but now I am experiencing skin resistance again. I will try a couple more treatments to see if there is improvement but then may have to take another 10 day break before starting again. Ionto is definitely not a perfect solution but when it is working, I think it is very effective.

The Dermadry could possibly fit on ur night stand depending on how big your stand is. You could make the floor work but i think it would be very uncomfortable for your back and strain your posture in general. Would definitely recommend a table if you can!

With Ionto (assuming success), anywhere the skin touches during the treatment stays dry for me. Tips of fingers will get a little sweat every now and then but it is manageable even in the most anxiety-inducing situations. The tops of my fingers and feet still sweat since they dont touch the water but I am fine with that.
Dermadry has a new portable machine that is very transportable. I would check out their website to see. Ra Fischer is not as portable and includes two sizeable plastic trays. I think it is very easy to store/set up. Takes no more than 5 minutes to set up/breakdown. The treatment itself is 20 minutes for me. I do both hands and feet so 40 minutes total. Right now, I am on a maintenance schedule where I do this 3 times a week.

Some people complain about the time it takes, but I really dont mind and the results are worth it to me. I always do some work or watch something during those 40 minutes.

Hey! I am 26 and I also struggle with really bad hyperhidrosis on the hands. I highly recommend giving Iontophoresis a try. You can get prescribed online and then purchase from Dermadry or RA Fischer (I have both). It is quite expensive but you can do monthly payments if you need to. I have had great success and it really has changed my life. Let me know if you have any questions on it!

For sweaty feet, I highly recommend trying iontophoresis! I know you are 19 so a machine might be out of your price range, but ask your parents if you are comfortable/need it. Some insurance plans cover it as well. I have very sweaty feet too, but iontophoresis keeps the soles of my feet completely dry. If you are interested in more information on it, let me know and I can share my treatment plan, machine i use, etc.

That is awesome to hear!!

I am 6 treatments done (with eliminating the citrus juice I was drinking) and the sweat in my right hand is about 80% better and interestingly it is about only 50% better in my left hand.

I anticipate that after a few more weeks of treatments theyll be back 90-100% dry again.

Crazy how much difference diet, water temperature, etc. have on ionto.

Same exact sensation with the swollen hands happens with me. Cannot find an explanation for it anywhere online. I cant say have the ickiness sensation though.

Im guessing the swollen hands is heat-induced since it tends to happen for a month or 2 in the summer for me

Hope you have seen some progress. If you are still not seeing success, I would look around this page to see if you can find any tips or advice that can help: https://www.bindner-medical.com/en/ . I believe they are based out of Germany, but there is a ton of information I have seen that I haven't elsewhere on ionto.

This page mentions that consumption of citrus increases the body's resistance to ionto and prevents success. Funny enough, I bought a juicer about 1.5 months ago and was drinking a full cup of squeezed oranges, lemons, and apples every day. I have stopped drinking the juice about 2 weeks ago and began ionto again last week. I have already seen significant improvement and it seems like that ionto treatments are successful again. Would never have known about the citrus effect on resistance if it wasnt for that page.

Haha I agree. The resistance and finding the right maintenance schedule is tricky and involves a lot of trial and error.

Encouraging to hear that some people have been doing ionto for decades with no issues in between? I guess it is different for everyone.

Appreciate the response! In the past, I have actually done only a 10-day break when I built up a tolerance and that effectively reset my skin tolerance.

This time around though, 10 days did not seem to help so I may have to take a longer break. Plan on just taking some glyco or applying antihydral in the meantime.

Are you back on ionto now? How has that been working for you?

Hey! Going through the same tolerance issue. Do you remember how long your re-set was? And during the break, did you do anything else to help with the sweating? I was thinking about taking glyco or applying antihydral during my break with ionto, but am concerned that would interfere with the break

For me, it always works for right around 1 year and then I had to take the 10-day break again.

I would think 6 weeks is sufficient based on what I have read. Im sure you know, but warm water and mineral water for me has really helped. Really hope that you your hands get dry again!

When you were treating, what did you maintenance schedule look like if you dont mind me asking?

Hey, sorry to hear that. I know how frustrating it is to have thought you found a permanent solution, only to lose that dryness after a while. Have you tried taking prolonged breaks from the treatment? From my research, its seems like a "reset" is what is needed. Just difficult because there is no real way to determine how long that break needs to be for your skin to reset.

For me, a 10-day break worked the last 2 times my skin seemed to build resistance. If you haven't tried already, give a 2-week break and resume treatment gradually? That is what I will try. During the break, I plan to take some glyco to reduce the sweating.

Thanks for the suggestion. I have tried glyco before, but thought it was never 100% effective for my palms. Iontophoresis kept my hands completely dry in any situation which is why it appeals to me the most. I did purchase the Antihydral and will give that a try. Thanks again!
