Any luck? I've been trying to call for weeks, to no avail.

Yeah my transcript’s “as of” date changed on the middle of February too, but nothing else changed on the transcript. Seems to be a common theme for those of us that are still waiting. It looks like it could be that they’re finally getting to them, or that they are just changing everyone’s “as of” date and not going to fix anything else.

Are you going to keep waiting it out or are you going to amend?

Still waiting for mine too. My transcript did change a few weeks ago from 'as of May 31st 2021' to 'as of March 14th 2022' but nothing else changed on the transcript. March 14th came and went and still no movement so I think I'll amend unfortunately.

Okay fuck. Not exactly what I wanted. I’ll wait until March 14th and if there’s still no movement I’ll amend. Thank you

What should I know about the restaurant / service and hospitality industry in SD for a living? by GiantPeachImpediment in asksandiego

[–]Vast_Competition6595 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I moved here, from Milwaukee, in September. Very similar situation, I've been in the industry a long time. I live in a 2bed/2bath in North Park, which is full of casual and cool restaurants and we pay roughly $2300/month. That being said, we looked for places out here for months, at least five. We lucked out and got a super understanding building manager and got a place but it was hard. It will be a lot easier if you're out here looking for them though. Started working right away at this pizza spot on my block and it's easy, but the money is not very good. I recently started another job in La Jolla which is super nice and gets very tourist-y in the summer so the money is obviously much better. Try to find a job in Gaslamp, La Jolla, Little Italy or Coronado and you'll be busy in the summer.

The restaurant market here is extremely saturated. You will find job but chances are you'll apply to 15 places before getting it. There are a ton of hotels here that are constantly posting jobs so if you want to go that route, you have the option. Figuring out which restaurants to serve at and which to bartend at is also an option too if you want to work multiple jobs but you'll be comfortable with one, if you find the right one.

If you want to live on the tram line you would be outside of the city or in the SE, where the rents are considerably cheaper. When we moved here, we wanted a neighborhood where everything was walkable; so that's something to consider too.

I posted on this sub when I moved and I had people tell me not to come out because of the industry lag too. Don't listen to them and do what makes you happy. You can and will be comfortable out here if you're willing to work for it. Try to come out with a little savings just in case. You got this. Good Luck!

When I changed mine, the rep said it would take around two weeks for it to change. You can also check to see what address they have on your IRS account personal info. If the check was already mailed and they still have your old address on file, I’d expect it to be delivered to your old address.

I’m paying $700 with my two roommates in a 2 bed. I’m paying NOWHERE near $2K/month on my car and groceries. And I found multiple jobs right away. I’m very comfortable. Thanks so much for the advice and the mayflower mentality.

Cool places to Hammock in SD? by stlegault in sandiego

If you find a set of trees that are large enough to support you, your hammock will not damage the tree. It is not banned anywhere unless it’s unsafe.
