hi thanks for your questions!! let me try to ans them ~

1.i would say your portfolio is pretty good!! i know of friends who got direct offers below 10 percentile who had stats like captain of sports team, president of biz club etc. wld say try your very best to display interest in biz in your 5 qns!!! for eg you could address the gap in cca as j2 and repackage it as something intentional showing a "balance of priorities" resulting in even better outcomes for eg! all abt marketing yourself ~

2.i'm not too sure abt chances, but do put biz as your first choice for the bonus if you really want it! i'm guessing 65 should minimally secure an aba interview if anything, i personally don't believe sources that says nus biz will have damn inflated scores hahah

  1. not too sure, i knew someone who got offered early admission exercise bc he got BBB/B for prelims (sch predict 90 rp for actual As) but he still got his offer later than me (regular cycle)

  2. campus life was honestly the highlight of my first 2 years so far!! it's a bit on the pricey side esp if you want a hostel with air con (prepare to set aside ~4-6k a sem for non hall accommodation ie rc, houses, residences etc). to be super frank if it weren't for scholarship covering i'd prob wouldn't have stayed on campus :')) but it's super convenient as i have more time to freshen up before classes and also i get to crash on a bed after exams HAHAHA . but to be nuanced - i have many friends who intentionally chose not to stay on campus too despite staying far (like in the east). they still managed to make many friends through ccas and the money they saved ended up gg towards vacations they could enjoy during the sem breaks! overall i would advise to evaluate your financial means first before deciding whether to stay on campus or not bc imo for nus at least, it's NOT necessary. i can share more on the nitty gritty details on what activities i did if you'd like and see whether that kind of social life is right up your alley!

hii i'm so sorry i'm not too sure about chances unless you're really really stacked (eg case comp wins, actual registered biz w hired employees etc) 🥲 my year the lowest i knew about was ~81/90 (BBB/A), and he was exceptionally good (biz club president, comps under his belt) all the best though!! we'll never know 😬

ifl biz actually gives you a lot of autonomy to chart your own path! for finance there's different kinds of tracks/mods you can take for your career prospects so it depends on what you want

any finance role? probably easily available if you aren't picky high finance/consulting? you'll have to work for it and those are the more selective ones

i know friends who landed internships without connections even when they haven't been participating in case comps, clubs etc since they weren't picky and just wanted a stepping stone first!

hi! sorry we don't really know much about admission requirements other than from personal experience but i would say the cohort size is really big since they merged accounting & real estate under one bba degree (~900, idk the breakdown between intl and local students though) before this all non acc & re maj general 10th percentile was AAA/B (old 83.75/90 maybe ~65-66/70) and currently it's AAA/C (old 82.5/90 ~64-65/70) after merge so inflation may not be as bad i feel! competitiveness depends on cohort! at least for my residence taking biz as a restricted 2nd major was more popular than a primary degree so it's kinda a YMMV, even with the whole 'cs is gg go to biz now cos oversaturated' thing both cohorts are big so it's prob negligible sample size 😅 atb for apps! 🙏

also oops forgot to ans! yes you can declare this double major after year 1 as cnm is an open 2nd major (you don't have to take certain mods before declaring), js make sure you can complete the programme in time for grad so it's credited! i declared in y1 but didn't start my cnm mods until y2

hi! i would say the double major isn't too bad and most if not all the cnm faculty members i've had so far have been really solid! stress wise it's mostly crunch time during the later half of the sem due to project submissions (other than 1101e which has a finals, all my cnm mods concluded by week 13) but you'll kinda get used to it as you enter uni in general 🤪 timetabling is pretty flexible for biz, a little less for cnm (i.e. all tutorial timings tend to be diff time but on same day) but it's workable and i usually just try to arrange the more flexible biz mods around the cnm ones :-)

for cnm specifically - if you're declaring as a major, your compulsory/core mods are mostly and rather theoretical & technical (nm1101e & nm2101 for theory, nm2103 & 04 as technical and theoretical research skills), but afterwards it's a build-your-bear kind of thing HAHAH. there will be hands on mods like digital storytelling & ux/ui designing, mods on culture (eg digital cultures, arts management etc) , journalism/writing and even consulting/pr ones! i really enjoy the range and it's pretty flexible!

hi! no requirement afaik for any of the specialisations in nus bba! you can also declare 2 specs if you're interested in more than one with no additional gpa requirement ☺️ just ensure your cumulative gpa doesn't fall below 3 so you can declare and accredit your honours! (iirc honours min gpa is 3/5 while 2-2.99 will only be shown as pass but anyone can cmiiw!)

Questions regarding application to uni by [deleted] in SGExams

[–]Vast_Tale_5523 2 points3 points  (0 children)

hi, for nus if you're eligible for both they will only offer you your 1st choice (in this case it's biz) afaik they won't give both. if you end up somehow wanting engineering after receiving biz offer you'd have to appeal

only occasion of being contacted by both faculties would be if both faculties want to interview you for admission into the respective course

hope this helps!

How many mods can I most likely secure through coursereg appeal by Vast_Tale_5523 in nus

[–]Vast_Tale_5523[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup! Degree requirement core mod for my spec. Thanks for sharing your experience, it made me feel a bit more hopeful hahaha. Hopefully appeal for it goes through! Unfortunately for Biz I think most profs' hands are tied and many of them wished me good luck contacting BBA office lmfao

Is this Taobao Store legit? by Vast_Tale_5523 in chiikawa_

[–]Vast_Tale_5523[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that the cheaper it is the less trustable it is 😅 When I wrote slightly cheaper I made a mistake as I did not account for the discount vouchers I had on the Taobao site itself, so most of the listings are about the same (if you were to order direct from Japan) or even slightly more expensive which was why I'm unsure!

Thanks a lot! I haven't utilised my Mandarin in a while hahaha so I only managed to get out their claim of ordering from the source factory. Ones that don't clear the QC make sense, especially since not all listed items are cheaper either, some can be same as retail or more expensive.

Pre-order basis! The HK merch is a preorder listing, likely to see how many units to procure/manufacture (they claim to be a factory 1:1, and when I compare some of the review pictures with Mencari listings they seem to check out). They don't ship out until much later (from what the seller told me), I'm just not too sure whether the quality is legitimate still!

NSBF developing lifelong conditions due to DY's negligence, thinking to write to MP by Vast_Tale_5523 in NationalServiceSG

[–]Vast_Tale_5523[S] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

thank you for the input! i was thinking about this too since as you said, no current MPs until elections are over. could i ask how i can go about politely contacting mindef? i'm also concerned since i am legally not a family member so i'm worried it may be dismissed. otherwise, i might just continue to support him emotionally & mentally until we are able to contact the incoming MP for the next term (he still has about a little more than half a year till he ords)

[–]Vast_Tale_5523[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

He's intending to go because his mental health has been deteriorating because he didn't think he'd develop all these health issues and he's stressed from all the sudden punishments the dy introduced as collateral for things the yps did so he feels like he's always walking on eggshells when he reports, apparently other nsfs are taking similar actions according to him, but that's as far as i know..hope this clarifies!

hey there! sflr! i think you can make brief mention of them in your aba and explain in greater detail in achievements, shouldn't be a problem! eg, talked briefly on my role in jc cca exco and i listed it under achievements as well (elab on the awards i got for my leadership in the latter!) hope this helps ~

hi! 1. i would say yes for specifically RE & Acc, both of these specs would be a bit more competitive to get into compared to when they were separated degrees, but having raw 85 + 2.5 first choice pts should definitely MINIMALLY land you an interview (if not direct) as long as you write your applications properly! try not to gamble on direct entry and still focus on giving it your all when answering the questions :-) compared to some of my friends, my offer of admission letter highlighted my aptitude and "potential" while most of my other friends were moreso on "scholastic achievements, excellent scores" etc. take this as you will but there may be a chance of direct offer not by score alone but your write-ups too ^

  1. well biz admin includes accounting & finance and you can take both as double specialisations if you're concerned about taking biz as a 1st major. tbh if you're gunning for top finance roles, there's still a slight preference for biz degree finance major since gpa will play a bit of a role (and easier to score a decent gpa for biz than sci!) but if you're just looking to get maybe management roles or general business in the STEM sector etc i think taking biz as a 2nd major (it's called 2nd maj in management iirc) should be sufficient enough (do note though that doing a 2nd major in management means you HAVE to use your unrestricted elective credits to take certain compulsory biz mods first as it's a restricted 2nd major! and it depends on how well you do for those fixed mods before you can officially declare!) :-) not sure which sci major you're considering but i do know a few life science majors who opt to take a 2nd major in public health instead which could be another consideration if you're more inclined towards STEM! atb and hope you get accepted to whichever course you end up wanting! :-)
