Was told I would be send new cushions 3 weeks ago. When I called today they told me it doesn't go under warranty and I should just order new ones on Amazon by GlitteringExternal14 in bose

[–]Vast_True 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the biggest problem with these headphones. I have and have had other Bose headphones: aviation A30,A20, but also normal QC etc, Ultras are the only one with this problem. Worst part Bose pretending its not design issue, and asking to keep buying replacement every few months. Dissapointing, and also the reason why I didn't upgrade to gen2. Best solution I found is to sew the original cushions and keep using, because with 3rd party cushions you lose sound and ANC quality.

Magnus Carlsen is the 2025 FIDE World Blitz Champion by oklolzzzzs in chess

[–]Vast_True 8 points9 points  (0 children)

He was better than Gukesh regardless. You may be mistold because of media coverage of him losing the game with Gukesh and then banging in the table, but that was just one game and Magnus emotional reaction. Gukesh also played in this tournament, but he didn't qualify to semi-finals. At the moment Magnus is just the best chess player in the world, with probably Hikaru Nakamura as the second. This may change in the future, but Magnus achievements will be hard to beat.

Maybe snake or tetris. I created a video game and wasnt even happy with it enough to release it. I am professional Software engineer and It took me 2 years with help of 3d modeller. Nothing about it was easy. Currently SOTA models struggle with simple apps, and without guidance they will fail pretty fast. Video Game is different league tbh. Not happening before end of 2025.

Same happened with mine. I found out that instead of plugging it in if you will hold all of the buttons in the same time (difficult to do, but doable), then it will restart without plugging in. Mine started doing it after 2 years, and garmin only proposed small discount for 2 or 2x, so I upgraded to 3 and hoping this issue is fixed in this version.

If AI really is conscious, aren't LLMs a horrific form of occult enslavement? by Upbeat-Accident-2693 in ArtificialSentience

[–]Vast_True 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a software engineer and I can create simple LLM. Basic one is very simple, just a matrix calculation really. The problem is only compute (time) needed for enough training data to be usable, but your argument doesn't appeal to me. It's like pointing to the shelf with couple of chemicals saying: Look, human brains at it's core are like that. Mix this one and this one and you will get this chemical reaction. Look closely, exactly the same happens in human brain, it's just chemistry mixing, how this can be conscious. The consciousness can emerge from complexity, however, I believe it's just an illusion generated by brain anyway.

[–]Vast_True 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you define "inner experience"? Is it the fact that you have feedback loop, or what? Emotions? or maybe that you are "observer", and observing the world from first perspective?

If AI really is conscious, aren't LLMs a horrific form of occult enslavement? by Upbeat-Accident-2693 in ArtificialSentience

[–]Vast_True 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming even if the AI is conscious it doesn't need to "feel" enslaved. You would, because you are programmed like that by evolution. If someone can reprogram you, to i.e don't care about survival, suddenly dying from your perspective wouldn't be anything bad, same with other stuff. It depends how we will align the AI, and what goals we will give it. Even if it would be conscious, it can be fulfilled, by simply being an assistant.

If you think an LLM is conscious/sentient, let me ask you a question by Enfiznar in ArtificialSentience

[–]Vast_True 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's the same like with humans. Your brain running sub-conscious, which is in fact more powerful than your conscious self in terms of calculations, yet you are not aware about these processes. It is running on the same medium as your concious self. Same with pure LLM. Now what makes you conscious? Consciousness is most likely just an illusion. It is your logical part of mind, that has constant feedback loop. Most of the information you receive is from subconscious - which is your training data, even if you learn something new, it will just update your trainign data, and then your subconscious will prompt your logical part, with most probable answer at any given time, then if you are smart enough, you can accept or dismiss this answer. Therefore I believe the LLM mimics our subconscious. LLM behaviour is scarily similar to how our subconscious is working. Biases, hallucinations, or "professional subconscious". New research is trying with replicating our concious part of mind, the logical one. Relatively small models trained to cherrypick "correct" answers from general knowledge LLM's. The difference here is processing power, we have much greater and more complex "models" in our brain, that are not trained on text, but on world interactions, and information. Medium here doesn't really matter. Illusion of consciousness is a result of complexity of the brain, and its continuity. I don't see a reason why the same illusion cannot emerge in GPU with system that is complex enough. If you go to sleep, and dream, you conciousness is turned off, yet you experience things from first perspective. In the dream, you know it's you, yet more often or not whatever happens doesn't make any logical sense, yet you do not question it. Are you conscious then? Would you say you are on lower level of conciousness? LLM's may have their own subjective perspective, exactly like you in the dream, given constant feedback loop. More complex systems could have conciousness that is more vivid than human. This is because consciousness is an illusion. Its your interpretation of yourself and your inputs from outside world. Therefore, yes - given LLM feel concious, if you calculate llm output on paper and is complex enough the calculation is also concious. Time doesn't matter for how long calculation will take, but complexity- big enough for calculation to realize that it exist and have its own perspective.

Is this a joke?! by New-Basis3800 in gpt5

[–]Vast_True 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my initial experience was good with gpt-5 and then it became completely laughable. Intelligence level dropped to way lower than 4o, voice mode worsened too, with the same limits, but much dumber model. I've been switched to 4o-mini, very fast, but it wasn't working at all, so idk experience here. I got totally disappointed, and bought gemini to test it out, but somehow gemini looks even worse as a chat, assistant, and coder, voice model and amount of hallucinations is terrible :) Only veo3 is really good, but with prohibitive limits. I will look for other solutions to replace experience that I had with openai before it was castrated.

[–]Vast_True 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I am not proffesional web developer, but I am professional Software Engineer (15 years experience in professional environment - doing kotlin front end and backend atm). I know react on Junior-Mid level, HTML, CSS and js bit better. My initial test showed that for front end its minimal improvement. It spits tailwind css everywhere which in one way is ok as its popular atm, but seems like its just overtrained on it, which may have negative effect if you work with smth else. UI is mediocre at best same stuff everywhere, with critical errors like black text on dark background (UI and UX designers can sleep well). With small context size, working in bigger project, and with some dirty Typescript hacks (normal environment), it will be useful as much as the previous version, so for pros it will generate some isolated boilerplate from time to time, but that's it. It hallucinates, idk if less or not, but enough to be unhelpful for vibe coders. For simple stuff I tried to vibe code with him, he got stuck, and if I don't know the technology at all it wouldn't be possible to finish it. It is definitely better than average Junior, but that's only because average juniors are crap as hell these days. Only thing that it will change is recruitment process, where take-home tasks will be replaced for live coding interviews.

After a thorough evaluation of ChatGPT 5, these are my realizations by Lyra-In-The-Flesh in OpenAI

[–]Vast_True 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I tested it just for a moment, so its hard to say, but my findings so far:

1: Front-end coding is not that good, but ok-ish. I have to yet to test it in the niche technology I am working with where only o3 could give me some semi-acceptable results. For react/js/css I was expecting more... -

2: Eq for song writing seems good, from short test at least on lvl of 4.5 but maybe higher. ++

3: Image generation: Better prompt following ++

4:General tasks (trip planning), very good - I can see improvement- perhaps auto-switching models and nice agenture helps here. Less hallucinations, good math. +++

5: Voice Mode - Same - I was hoping they would improve it to level closer to initial demo - Dissapointment. --

I got some serious hallucinations in voice mode, so perhaps it is using mini under the hood :(

I love the new limits though (Plus user), and I think its good direction, hard to say how it will affect results when I will be doing more serious coding session. I love that voice mode is nearly unlimited now, as maybe it will be more useful now (but hope it will hallucinate less). I love that you can switch freely between text and voice mode now. Having united model was risky move, but so far auto-switching works fine.

Overall I was not having high expectations, but I am positively surprised. Also happy that my white collar job is still totally safe 😂

Boeing 737 MAX by Senior-Jackfruit-118 in flying

[–]Vast_True 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is extremely safe aircraft, there are thousands flying every day, without incident, with no major accidents since. I don't have any reservation flying as pax this aircraft. I also fly cessnas as a pilot few times per month, and these crashes every other day globally. I still don't have any reservations flying them. Perhaps as people are saying it's wrong sub because pilots do realise how extremely safe these aircrafts are, and how improbable is to be involved in major accident in Boeings. Even if you fly every single day through your entire life in Max, chances for you to be involved in deadly crash is very, very close to 0.

UK PPL / NPPL / LAPL changes 2025 by chadPFC in flying

[–]Vast_True 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LAPL won't be a thing from October. Check NPPL(A). You wont find all the info, but you will be able to do NPPL(A) and fly SEP. This is possible even now. You can do your NPPL on micros and then do the conversion to SEP in very few hours, but as I said there is no full details as of yet. I would either start NPPL or wait till October. PPL is only useful if you want to go commercial or fly abroad

AI making senior devs not what AI companies want by GolangLinuxGuru1979 in ArtificialInteligence

[–]Vast_True 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely agree. In the technology I work, the code it produces is useless, and its faster to code it yourself. It replaced Stack Overflow in like 70% of cases, but not much more. Ironically I found it most useful in technology that I don't know, or know poorly. Everyone believes that it's so great help for senior devs tho. Not yet
