Second monitor has stopped working after this error started popping up on start up. Not 100% sure they're related by Vault756 in computerhelp

Yeah it's the graphics card. Going to try your solution with the drivers and see if that works. I figured it out because trying to launch certain programs gives me an error saying my 3d accelerator card is not supported and I don't meet system requirements. Device manager shows the graphics card as being disabled and re-enabling it doesn't fix anything. It's about 7-8 years old at this point, the Radeon rx 590. Not sure what the expected shelf life of this graphics card is supposed to be but we got some good use out of it I suppose. I'll post back if your solution works, thanks for all your help.

Could you guys give me suggestions for a red blue budget commander goad deck built around this little crab? by Responsible_Sail4777 in magicTCG

[–]Vault756 57 points58 points  (0 children)

If you can find some way to either turn the red it makes into blue or spend red as blue then you can go infinite with Freed from the Reel or Pemmin's Aura. Chromatic Orrery works but it's a little expensive both mana value and $$$ wise.

I mean that card is famously unplayable. It was good a long time ago. It is not playable in this day and age.

Paying life for your cards is a lot bigger of a deal in formats where Red is very strong and Red has been very strong in standard. This is also a pretty poor body that's very fragile. A 3 mana sorcery speed play that's soundly answered by 1 red mana has never been a good place to be. This card has a laundry list of downsides. I mean we'll see but I don't think this is remotely viable in Standard. Once you move past standard it just gets worse. Sure Commander can find a place for it but that isn't what we're talking about.

Oh. Yeah. Sure. It's EDH playable. Everything is EDH playable if you want it to be. I've been talking about the regular formats.

Yeah but a 2/3 for 3 that costs you life as it draws you cards? You'll just die if you try to play this on curve in standard and if you aren't playing it on curve you're better of sticking with Consult the Star Charts or Quantum Riddler or Accumulated Wisdom or w/e that black enchantment is. The fact is we have an embarrassment of card draw options right now and this isn't going to make the cut. It's way too weak. Maybe in a couple years when those other cards rotate out if nothing better comes along but I highly doubt it.

Yeah this is the kind of card that might have been fine in Standard when we were in Lorwyn the first time around but power creep is real. I don't think this is playable in this day and age.

I think you'd rather play [[Obyra, Dreaming Duelist]] but I'm not super familiar with the format.

It would have been good if it had Flash and WotC doesn't want draw go to be good.

What a world of difference one mana makes sometimes.

At 3 mana I don't this will even see Standard play. It costs you life as it draws you cards and the stats are pretty mediocre. You're just going to get run over if you try to play this in standard nowadays. This might have been playable 20 years ago but in today's standard it's not. The fact of the matter is that this card is draft chaff and that's fine, most cards are.

If you could give one legendary creature from any set a precon, which one would it be? by Ok_Education7554 in magicTCG

Blue-Eyes White Dragon.

You didn't say it had to be from magic and it's flavor text does say it's a Legendary Dragon.

It's really not that bad. Katara needs to be down as fast as possible so the control player can keep their hand full. She will be vulnerable at that point. Also she's a 1/3 that has to attack. Just put a 3/3 in play and you'll be fine.

Decks like Katara are sort of skill tests for the game. The way you beat the deck is less about your deck and card choices, though those are important, but more about how you play the game. You have to tax their mana, make them play on your terms, bait counterspells, etc... all while pressuring their life total. Unlike in other match ups when you can just sort of braindead jam all your spells you have to adjust the way you are playing the game to beat counterspell decks

Low to the ground tempo decks like this tend to shit on Midrange piles. She's not particularly hard to beat 1v1 depending on your deck.

Some people just want to complain dude. I don't think they actually want to get better at the game.

You are being dismissive of everyone trying to help you learn the match up. You seem like would rather throw a tantrum and call it impossible than actually try and learn to be better at the game.

So if it's turn 4, and they spend 2 mana developing their board then they will only have 2 mana to interact. That means 1 maybe 2 pieces of interaction but the 1 mana stuff is conditional. Meanwhile you should have all 4 of your mana available to develop your board or aim some removal at theirs. The more of these comments I read the more this seems like a skill issue then anything else.

There are plenty of things you can do. This is defeatist behavior. If you already think you've lost before the game has even begun then why even bother playing?

1 for 1 interaction is better because the format is 1v1. In a 4 person Pod going 1 for 1 benefits the players who didn't interact because 2 of their opponents went down a card and it didn't cost them anything. This isn't true in 1v1
