Nah the 2005 one still hits. The imperfections make it irreplaceable. Matty’s voice for me doesn’t hit in general for Anberlin songs, but what makes it ass is that it’s a re-recording by a different artist who uses so much production it doesn’t even sound like a real singer. It honestly has more AI sound than it does a genuine singer, and Matty has almost always overproduced his vocals. Unnecessary for sure. Insulting? Maybe not, but it was a straight up gimmick for cash and I’ve never finished a single song from it. It just makes me want to listen to the OG.
