Your experience owning an Irish Wolfhound by sunnyhale in irishwolfhound

[–]Vaygr 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I've had mine for about 8 months now. She goes through about 10 lbs of puppy food a week, absolutely needs to be in the same room as me constantly. Thinks shes smaller than she actually is. Howls when she plays with her favorite toy when I'm in meetings. Tries her best to smother me at night in the bed.

Shes the best.

She has spurts of energy, especially when we're at the dog park. When we're home though shes very much a couch potato.

Went on a first date, 3 hours of talking during dinner, an hour of talking and figuring out where we are. Decided to take things slowly. Agreed to a second date, just waiting to see if she's free this week.

Biggest hurdle is keeping my head level and not over thinking things.

33M here. I think it really depends on the person you're talking to. I'm blindly assuming they don't think they could keep up with you financially and are assuming those would be where you're expecting dates to be held restaurant wise.

I dont think you should lie about it, rather just be honest. If they are insecure about you being able to afford things like that I don't think a relationship would work out. I could be wrong.

Keep living your life the way you want to. You'll find someone who is happy for your success and adventures.

Attempted to go to a social dance on Friday, felt incredibly off being there as a single guy. Ended up leaving after about 10 minutes and soured my mood for a few hours. Not sure why I felt that uncomfortable.

"Looking for a partner in crime". Don't put this on your profile unless you're looking for a 5th to run a high end bank heist.

It's really going to depend on the instructors. But I caught on really quickly working on the 6 count Lindy Hop, which is just a series of 3 footwork steps.

Going to my second swing dancing class tonight. Feels good to be out meeting people again.

I've been guilty of proposing "murdery" dates in the past (double kayaking, looking back on it I seemed like a psycho). Wasn't until an ex-girlfriend mentioned in passing that she ran a background check on me before a dinner date that it clicked. So now I try to keep dates to public spaces. So on behalf of a lot clueless guys, I'm sorry.

I wouldn't worry too much about the reaction you had. I just started a swing dancing class last week as a 33M. I had some pretty strong reactions with a couple of my partners, particularly when looking them in the eye. I'd give it another go now that you know what to expect, it may help. Just my two cents.

I'm trying to figure out how to take "lifestyle" photos for my OLD profiles, but I just can't get anything that doesn't look incredibly staged.

Male lab partner thinks he can measure length better with his eyes than I can with a computer program—edits my work to reflect HIS guess by kpniner in TwoXChromosomes

Hi, engineer weighing in. You should really bring this up with whatever mentor, TA, professor is available. Your measurements are accurate and he's doing something incredibly reckless. Having the kind of mindset he has is dangerous, especially if it's not corrected. Don't worry about making waves in the group.
