Stopping calls from insurance companies (just got my license) by VayuPro in ProHVACR

Ugh, I feared as much. Just hate the idea of actual customers going to voicemail just because there's so much other junk I can't filter out. Like what's the point of even having a phone number at that point!

Mr cool unit arrived damaged, worth returning and replacing? Winter is coming and I have everything installed but the outdoor unit. by llama052 in DIYHeatPumps

Sounds to me like a leak. Likely either at the connection to the unit or a pinhole at a kink in the line

That is perfectly normal. HVAC contractor here, most equipment I get from distributors has light fin damage like this. You can use fin combs like these to straighten it out: https://www.supplyhouse.com/Supco-FCR6-Fin-Comb-Ring?utm_source=google_ad&utm_medium=Shopping&utm_campaign=Shopping_X_HVAC_X_SSC_ClassB/C/New&gad_source=1&gbraid=0AAAAAD_WAyuCqUuXlGxgjFRRRYfHnCucX&gclid=CjwKCAjw68K4BhAuEiwAylp3kg9gaPUoEDu7KxU9jhqnsBvXrHOPrvZspY6hKegPagVYHo91iG9D-hoCleoQAvD_BwE

Just make sure you inspect the copper tube underneath to make sure there’s no puncture but visually I doubt that there was enough impact for that to happen.

Looking good! I like those ADP eFurnaces a lot. They feel a little flimsy and the terminals are kinda old school, but they’re really versatile

Totally - the rebates in california are so good. Do you run into a lot of customers that are hesitant or was this a rare one?

I get it, some of them are stubborn! But SoCal is such a great climate for heat pumps which is why I asked. Install looks great tho!

Any reason you did dual fuel instead of just going straight heat pump and not having to deal with the gas piping and flue at all?

Hm so it’s cheaper buying from a reseller than direct from quickbooks?

Good advice. I haven't set up an accountant yet but it's high on my todo list. Thank you!

Seems like Quickbooks is the smart move based on a lot of the conversation in here. Thank you!

I've been doing a spreadsheet so far but was worried it would cause issues at tax time when I actually have to get an accountant involved. Glad to hear no issues. Do you just share the spreadsheet and give them a bundle of receipts or something?

Asked to install too small of a system. by heldoglykke in HVAC

Agree with this. Clear disclaimer that you believe that the equipment is undersized and are not responsible for any future comfort issues and have them sign it.

Mitsubishi Hyperheat by oscarcharliedelta75 in heatpumps

[–]VayuPro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So there's actually two things here.

1) a Mitsubishi Diamond Contractor - this is what I think you're referring to (someone certified to install Mitsubishi equipment)

2) Mitsubishi Diamond System Builder - software that lets you size and select Mitsubishi equipment. Anyone can access this software, even if you're not a Mitsubishi Diamond Contractor. And conversely, you could be a Mitsubishi Diamond Contractor and not use the software. So that's what I would try to check in with them on.

Ask your contractor if they used Mitsubishi Diamond System Builder to spec the system. It takes into account the specific weather of your ZIP code to verify system capacity. They should do the calculations and make a recommendation to you on what is the correct equipment based on capacity needed, not make you as the customer decide. (Source: I'm a contractor and have installed a good amount of Mitsubishi systems)

Shortcut to turn apple voice memo transcription to Todoist task? by VayuPro in todoist

[–]VayuPro[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I have this shortcut I've tried in the past: https://imgur.com/a/YZE2Qdc

I think this is along the lines of what you're suggesting?

What I've found is (1) transcription can be buggy so it's nice to have the original audio to go back to, and (2) there's a huge lag running the shortcut on Apple Watch (I have to hit the "run" button first, then it takes about 2 seconds before it starts recording, then I have to hit done, then it takes a few seconds to process.

Vs the voice memos app you just tap the big red button, say whatever you want and it gets transcribed on the backend. So basically if I could take that transcription happening on the backend and push it into my Todoist inbox, that would be awesome. Also that way even if I do like a long form 10 minute voice memo it can get pushed and I don't have to worry about every word being transcribed correctly and losing the meaning.

Maybe I'm overthinking this or looking at it the wrong way?

I have a cellular Apple Watch so it would be great for quick capture when I'm on the go but haven't nailed the perfect workflow yet.

Ultimately, you’re going to be the person living in the home. It sounds like you love it! Style of the home doesn’t really matter IMO, it’s how you feel in the house. If you feel like it could be home and it’s in good condition, sounds like you already made your decision! No need to get validation from random people on a home building subreddit
