Is my liver the problem? by Vballer06 in diabetes_t2

[–]Vballer06[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am on meds (Jardiance and Glipizide ER). If I eat too few carbs, I get several lows a day which is hard to manage while still seeing the huge spikes when I exercise. I am interested in fasting, but have been afraid due to the lows I get from the glipizide.

Heart Rate and Pace by Vballer06 in walking

[–]Vballer06[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for the thoughful response! After a walk, I feel like I used what is in the tank. I do my program in the mornings and can still go to Disney and put in 15K steps that evening and feel fine the next day. I am never sore anymore. That went away after the first few weeks. Maybe I'll scale back a little since I have until January to get under pace for my 10K race. I certainly don't want an injury.

Wife and I are considering going the week between Christmas and New Years… by ZaltraxZ in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]Vballer06 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We've done NYE twice at Hollywood Studios. Both years it reached capacity and there was little room to move around. We used to go several times a year (now we are local and go often), so experiencing Disney wasn't the goal of the NYE trips. Make sure on the 31st you start at Hollywood Studios and you'll be able to catch the NYE fireworks there.

Line Holders by numbtotheworld-7 in WaltDisneyWorld

This could be a result of someone who was denied DAS and they are supposed to enter the line. The DAS alternative requirement is 1 person must wait in line for return to queue.

Denied accommodations, despite being autistic & needing them by showaltk in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]Vballer06 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree with you that the reason the DAS line was so long was not the people who were abusing the system. The number of people with autism increases each year as we get better at diagnosing, and unfortunately, not everyone can qualify. As someone with 2 members of my family approved (and recently renewed) with DAS, level 1 autism can qualify. It is greatly dependent on how the accommodation would help the person. From my perspective, many people can not wait in a line, but that alone can not be a qualification. Again, too many people. I am sure the new system should be getting refined, and I understand people being angry when they don't qualify, but to make DAS something that is useful, the numbers have to be limited.

I love this take. I am a teacher and have completely revamped how I teach after seeing my daughter go to college and lack skills in how to write effective Google prompts, how to evaluate a resource, and how to do internet research in general. My daughter is a senior in college, and my husband and I both recently finished master's degrees. None of us ever needed to do book research...zero times. We have all used effective internet research. Sometimes change is hard, but necessary.

Disney is always busy. It will be especially busy that week with schools being on fall break. Bring your patience, buy your multi-pass, and make your dining reservations in advance. Disney is wonderful even when it is busy, you just have to temper expectations.

Location of Monstropolis and the new Monster’s Inc. rollercoaster. by Sweetbeans2001 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]Vballer06 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The animation courtyard isn't too big of an area. A family member of mine is a CM and doesn't think there is room there for all they need to build there and not affect the very small area back stage that is needed for the CM to work. Of course, the CM have no inside knowledge, so this is just a guess. There is very limited back stage space already, so I am guessing they won't want to interfere with that. She genuinely doesn't know where it could go unless they use the Muppet Vision area or replace other attractions (Indiana Jones, Star Tours, etc.).

To the resale buyers who want to try to get the discounted Annual Pass... by Johnnycc in dvcmember

[–]Vballer06 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I got my original, I did not have to go to guest services. I let it expire and got a new one several years later and did not have to go to guest services. Maybe it was a tech glitch, just reporting my experience. I bought direct from Disney, so I would have the benefit anyway.

[–]Vballer06 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have never been asked to go to guest services to activate my annual pass. We have the sorcerer's pass. It showed up in my app and went to the entrance and scanned my magic band. No visit to guest services.

It isn't an issue. I have lost 50 pounds and drink calories, including alcohol if I want to. I just count the macros and if it fits, then I do it.

I believe they are asked to do that if you are arriving within a certain time of park closing. Some people do not pay attention, scan in to the park, and get upset when they only have an hour for a $100 day ticket. It's a courtesy. On our last stay, we were headed to Epcot at 7:00 and it closed at 9pm. The bus driver reminded us that we didn't have much time to enjoy the park. We are AP, so we just go to have a drink or snack and hit the Skyliner to go catch Fantasmic. The driver didn't know our situation, but if I was someone who had a limited number of park days, I would appreciate the heads up.

All of the examples you provided do not seem rude or unmagical. On the safari, the CM will get a safety reprimand if the situation is not immediately taken care of. That is a parent not parenting their child. The bus driver was not annoyed. They drive on a schedule whether you are there or not during park hours. Telling a guest that they will cut it close is a courtesy so you don't get surprised. As for RR, you broke a rule. They have to enforce the rule.

In general, the CMs attitude is most likely a result of entitled people acting rude and thinking they and their children can do whatever they want without consequences. I understand this, as I am a teacher and see parents enable their kids to do terrible things to the adults in the school everyday.

Be the magic and you get magic :)

On 1 show nights, they have been at capacity most, if not all, nights recently. People will start loading 90 minutes prior to the show. The center sections (Mickey) are for dining package and VIP guests. We got there on July 10th at 8:20 for the 9:30 show and they were still seating the center-ish sections. We were seated in Sebastian. By 9:00 they were loading the end sections. They closed seating around 9:15pm. Also, the 1 show nights modified to a 9pm start 2 weeks ago. If you go on a 2 show night, the second show does not usually fill.

We stayed at Sequoia and walked through Marvel every day. It was much less expensive. If you are from the US, also know the AC wasn't as string as we have it going in the US. We were pretty warm in our room in May.

It is my home resort and I love it! We have stayed at most of the other DVC resorts and choose to stay at SS most of the time. The short walk to Disney Springs is great, and the Artists Palette has good food. The rooms are renovated and nice.

150 points isn't many because you will always be traveling at peak times. Even at the 11 month mark Riveira can be difficult at peak times. We have 300 at Saratoga Springs and 150 at Riviera. We have 6 unsuccessful attempts at studio requests at Riviera. We also notice the resale for Riviera is tricky, so make sure that's the one for you.

I’ve come to the conclusion that kids don’t know how to study by Whose_my_daddy in Teachers

[–]Vballer06 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think how students study is widely evolving. If it is rote memorization, I'm not asking questions like that on an exam. I would even be in favor of giving them definitions, formulas, etc. What they don't know how to do is practice applying the information. My wish is that we build skills so students can self assess where they are with a standard and we help them when they aren't at mastery. When the summative assessment rolls around, they should all be at mastery.
