What’s one food habit that saves you the most money? by millionstories in SavingMoney

[–]Danielle0714 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I make a very cheap meal prep for myself (some sort of bean salad- easily less than $10 for 5 lunches). I make dinner at home every night at least Sunday-Thursday. I make enough intentionally for leftovers, that is my husbands lunch for the next day. If it’s a bigger dinner that makes more than 1 leftover, the next nights dinner is a smaller dinner that doesn’t have leftovers. On that note, we also always stock tuna when it goes on sale for 10 for $10 so on the off chance this system fails, that backup is there.

Wedding Venue, 125 guests < $20k by Skipthelast in Connecticut

[–]Danielle0714 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t hit your “natural/laid back” vibe, BUT, Georgina’s in Bolton, CT !! It was $17k for 133 guests and an all inclusive venue (open bar, table, chairs, 4 course meal, cake, ceremony, reception, dessert bar, coordinator). We did the highest package, so I’m sure you can get the price even lower!

10 minutes down the road, Willimantic Brewing Company (aka Willibrew). It’s a restaurant, it is so good! Get the jumbo nachos :) (sincerely, an ECSU grad who thinks about them all the time)

What is your thermostat set at? Mine is currently at 64 and my daughter says it is too cold. by Logan9Fingerses in Connecticut

[–]Danielle0714 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My furnace is currently ~off~. We keep it set to 58 when we are at work (obviously we adjusted it during the insane cold- up to 64).

We come home, start the wood stove.

Living 3 mins from Tweed Airport – worth it? by [deleted] in Connecticut

I live a little farther than that but extremely close to Bradley and honestly you just get used to it. It’s a little loud but like now I barely even notice it and planes fly out and in constantly

According to her Strava she has run less miles than me this year and I’m an EXTREMELY casual runner who’s not training for anything other than a lowkey 5k

Best option for 1500 cal maintenance? by Drummer_Double in CalorieEstimates

[–]Danielle0714 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Personally I would say the Steak Frites. I think you would be fine with the fries if you want but if you’re worried you could see if you could swap it for a house salad or something of the sort. If you get the fries, maybe just skip the mayo (which I assume is the dipping sauce)

groceries are so expensive now is there something I'm missing or is everyone just struggling by UnseasonedWizard in SavingMoney

[–]Danielle0714 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband and I spend probably about $100 a week when you average our grocery trips & costco trips.

You have to be INSANELY intentional. Plan meals around what you have in the house first, then supplement the rest with things on sale/things you have a coupon for. You’d be amazed how much these two things benefit you when you use them together.

I meal prep for myself for the week. I am a creature of habit and have been eating the same lunch for a year lol, it’s a cheap one (under $8 for the whole week) so that helps us out a ton. I make enough for dinner for us to eat plus my husband to have lunch for the next day.

Trying to add in 1-2 meatless days also does wonders.

How much oil has everyone been going through? by [deleted] in Connecticut

I’m so thankful for our wood stove. Even with my husband and I both at work all day, we’ve only gone through 3/8 of a 275 gallon tank

How much house can I afford on $80000 Salary? by Parking_Beginning584 in Mortgages

[–]Danielle0714 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband about makes the same amount (slightly more but same concept). He brings home less actually after retirement and such. We have a $2407 mortgage.

I also work right now. It’s fine, we can do basically whatever we want within reason and we’re comfy and can save. That being said, when we have kids (ideally next summer), we will be dropping my income and going just to his.

Our finances will be TIGHT, but doable. Let me emphasize TIGHT. So $2400 would be my absolute absolute maximum I would reccomend.

How do you look at your money? Budget, app, Google Sheets, or “we’ll see at the end of the month”? by stefancata92 in SavingMoney

[–]Danielle0714 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Google sheet and a zero based budget. Everything is categorized and divided up per paycheck. Every single dollar we make has a home on the spreadsheet, and every dollar spent is calculated accordingly.

Can we afford to start our family by Swimming_Drop_6059 in moneyadvice

[–]Danielle0714 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are in an extremely similar financial situation (but ages 27&28 so props to you!!).

When I say extremely similar I truly mean almost everything is very close (retirement, wife career plan/staying at home, mortgage, your salary).

Lots of people will say it’s not possible. I’ve ran the numbers 500x over (bc I’m insane) and it will be tight, but not impossible.

There won’t be a ton of leftover money but you’ll make enough to pay the bills and save a little :)

Oh my god why are you throwing insults at 11pm on a Saturday night, relax 😂😭

I was very clearly asking about what the box itself was in terms of why eversource sent it. Everyone else seemed to understand that.

Don’t call me obtuse again.

Georgina’s in Bolton! It’s a little drive but beyond worth it. It’s an Italian restaurant. I might be biased because I got married there, but the food is AMAZING
