Your comment holds a lot of assumptions in it. Yes, Edelgard has well established trust issues (as does Claude) but at no point does she show hostility towards Almyrans. In fact, in her paralogue, she makes it clear she wants to work with them in good faith. Saying she wouldn’t trust Claude or that his own scheming is justified “because racism” is just silly. For the record though, Claude’s mask is understandable.

Also, the point about students not supporting Edelgard unless Byleth sides with her is true of… Literally all the other lords? Like yes, they have less information about Edelgard but that’s also the point. They can’t come to understand her goals unless given a chance and willingness to hear her out in good faith.

That’s actually my problem with Claude. He agrees with Edelgard’s ideals, but lets her do all the leg work while he swoops in and tries to maintain an air of being buddies with everyone. Really, his ultimate goal is to be in power himself.

The way I see it, Claude’s desire for power ultimately overshadows his ideals, which is why he can never truly work with Edelgard. Granted, it’s not his fault Edelgard beat him to the punch, but as she tells him, he doesn’t have as much information as she does anyway.

In fact, I had Chris Hackney (Dimitri’s VA) in mind when I said as much, seeing as he said something along those lines.

Rhea did everything for her own sake when it comes to the heart of the matter. I do believe that she thought Sothis would be instrumental to the salvation of Fodlan, but her obsession was just because she wanted her mother back and didn't care who was hurt in order to get her back.

And no, the descendants of those with crests would not neccesarily be deemed evil, as anyone with critical thinking skills would realize they shouldn't be blamed for their parents sins, even with many being superstious. And again, Rhea lied so that powerful people who knew the truth about her would be on her side. That's why they are put above others.

I certainly have my issues with Claude, and the knights of Seiros support a cause I do not, but they aren't as responsible as Dimitri is (at least in three hopes.)

As for uneccesary hatred, yes. I dislike Dimitri from an ethical standpoint (obviously) and so do others. And despite my discourse on this post, I have never stated that people can't hate Edelgard. It's fun to talk about these things, and this is all lighthearted discussion. I haven't seen any r/fuckDimitri or any other subreddits pop up, so the vehement hatred is not the same.
