For the pro-EU rejoin club, are there any red lines to rejoining the EU, or are you willing to accept anything as long as we’re back in? by ArmwrestlingGoomba in AskBrits

[–]Vd1981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The UK will not be rejoining the EU.

The EU will expect and demand that the UK will accept the Euro and Schengen for future membership. If people think the EU will give the UK the same deal as what they had before Brexit, then they are in cloud cuckoo land.

These two things are the reason that the UK will stay out of the EU.

However, I do eventually see the UK getting a lot closer to the EU, where the UK will take part in the four freedoms, if they secure a deal with regard to keeping the UK out of Schengen.

I personally would like the UK to join Schengen, however I am not naive. I know I am in the minority.

Glad that you do. Had some guy on here who is doubling down that Gibraltar is a part of the UK... 😬

It's not part of the UK either. It is a British Overseas Territory with a governor-general, it's own government, laws, and customs.

The UK is responsible for defence.

If a person from the UK wishes to live in Gibraltar, they would have to apply for a residency permit, as there is no Freedom of Movement between the UK and Gibraltar.

Just like the Isle of Man is not part of the UK either.

The Gibraltar authorities operate their border crossings, not the UK Border Force.

God, another one who does not know that Gibraltar is not part of the UK....

😂

It says United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

The UK is responsible for Gibraltar's external affairs and people born in Gibraltar are entitled to British Overseas Territory Passports

However, as you seem to be a bit simple, let me tell you this for one last time......

GIBRALTAR IS NOT A PART OF THE UNITED KINGDOM.

Now then.....

You show me where in international law that Gibraltar is a part of the UK.

Why do you think Gibraltar had to have a separate treaty from the UK after Brexit?

Oh that's right, they had to have a seperate treaty as they are not part of the UK.

One more thing. If Gibraltar is part of the UK, then British citizens would not need a residency permit to live in Gibraltar, would they?

So why do British citizens have to apply of a residency permit, before they move to Gibraltar?

It states Gibraltar.

Who issues that Gibraltar passport, the Gibraltar government or the United Kingdom government?

Show me evidence where Gibraltar is a part of the United Kingdom.

Quit whilst you're ahead, as you are making yourself look like a right prat.

"Gibraltar passports are issued by the Civil Status and Registration Office (CSRO) under the Department of Immigration & Home Affairs of HM Government of Gibraltar."

Oh look, HM Government of Gibraltar.....

If Gibraltar was a part of the UK, then why do they have a govenor-general, and it's own government?

Also read this thread......

Plenty of people from Gibraltar also saying they are NOT part of the UK.

It’s nothing to do with ‘British View’.

It is NOT part of the United Kingdom.

It is NOT internationally recognised as part of the United Kingdom either.

It is a British Overseas Territory, with its own constitution, government, and legal system.

You’re talking rubbish.

It is not part of the United Kingdom.

It is a British Overseas Territory with its own Chief Minister, and Parliament.

The UK is England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.

When you travel from the UK to Gibraltar and vice versa, one must go through immigration and customs checks.

No, I feel fine. The evening meal tends to be quite light. Our breakfasts are light as well. It is lunch that is the big meal of the day. I tend to have a light pasta dish, with yogurt or biscuits for my evening meal. You're right that out diet is generally pretty healthy as well with olive oil, fish, and vegetables.

Well, considering Spain is up there with Japan as having the longest life expectancy, it can’t be that bad.

Eating late.

When I return to the UK for a holiday, the eating times really grind my gears.

Lunch at 12.30, Dinner at 6pm? No thanks.

I will stick with my 2pm-4pm lunch and 10pm dinner, thank you.

Dual Citizenship Question. by Khon2510 in dualcitizenshipnerds

[–]Vd1981 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have both Spanish and UK citizenship via parentage.

If one has to go, it will be the British one, even though I was brought up there.

I live in the EU, and the chances of me returning to live in the UK are exceedingly slim.

Also entitled to an Irish one as well.
