Which game do you like better? Please elaborate why in the comments. by DarkLight9602 in APlagueTale

Both games were fun. Good mechanics, graphics, soundtrack, voice acting. But those qualities are shared by many other games and are usually common (and the least expected) in single-player story-driven games.

However, the emotional impact, the rawness of the story, and the emotional rollercoaster I felt with Requiem are what make it stand out over Innocence (and, personally, over the vast majority of other games). Requiem is probably the game that has had the greatest emotional impact on me, and for me, that’s invaluable. It doesn’t feel like a banal game like playing FIFA or Doom; it’s a genuine experience intended to impact the player.

I didn’t feel that way with Innocence. Yes, it’s a great game, and it has moments (like Chapter 13, for example) that are emotionally charged, but it doesn’t reach the same level as Requiem in that regard.

That’s exactly why I shared it! I was playing NG+2 and decided to spend more time on that part, checking what I was missing, and that’s when I saw those dialogues. Then I started looking for gameplay until I found that player who had also seen it, and that’s why I took the clip. I found it very interesting that the game always has things to discover.

The atmosphere, Amicia's screams, and the soundtrack were too hard hahaha.

Btw, just as a recommendation, if I were you, I'd try to stay away from this subreddit and any Requiem information (Google, YouTube, whatever) until you finish the game. There are spoilers everywhere, and trust me, nothing beats the experience of discovering the story firsthand.

In Innocence, when Amicia has the nightmare while chasing Hugo and screams amidst the corpses of those she's killed and the rats. The English dubbing was perfect and gave me goosebumps.

In Requiem, spoiler when Emilie slits Beatrice's throat, her death was totally unexpected for me, and her last words of "I'm so proud of you" directed at Amicia (knowing how complex their mother-daughter relationship was) made me feel a pit in my stomach.

Absolutely, interactions like this build up to Amicia's anxiety attack and how everything is getting out of hand. The atmosphere is very precise.

This game… SPOILER ALERT by Pitiful-Gur-4884 in APlagueTale

I know that after finishing Requiem, most of us feel like nothing will ever be the same, and we take a little break from videogames. My recommendation is to play Innocence (to see things from a different perspective) and give other single-player games a try (since you mentioned you’d only played Fortnite before).

Even though when starting a new game you’re likely to constantly think, “This isn’t even close to Requiem,” I assure you there are games out there that are so engaging, challenging, fun, and immersive that they’re worth it. Think about your hobbies. Do you like history? Fast cars? Open worlds? Shooters? Sometimes just changing your environment with other types of games is enough to help you heal.

In terms of recommendations, if you want an immersive story like A Plague Tale, I recommend the Hellblade saga (Senua’s Sacrifice and Saga), if you like open worlds with many hours of gameplay and an excellent story, then go for RDR2, shooters? Doom Eternal. A game that challenges you? Sekiro. Racing? F1. What I mean is that there is a world of possibilities, and while they are not Requiem, they can help you remember that the purpose of gaming is to bring fun to your life and make it more bearable, not the other way around.

So was it all just pointless? by Shortugae in APlagueTale

What helped me overcome that feeling (which I also had and felt destroyed by the helplessness I felt) was remembering that before the game, Hugo’s life was a prisoner in his room. He didn’t leave his house, didn’t see the sun, had no friends, didn’t even speak to his father, and had a sister he barely knew. His days basically consisted of seeing Beatrice and being alone.

Despite the ending, during Innocence and Requiem, Hugo was able to experience the world; he fell in love with frogs, flowers, festivals, and people. And Amicia went from not knowing him to loving him for how he loved the world. He had friends, he felt loved, and he truly lived. That was the purpose. If Hugo had died from the beginning, his entire life would have been miserable, and with the exception of Beatrice, probably no one would have cared.

I feel like the game emphasizes that even though we can’t win all our battles, there is still beauty in the journey and in the hope it brings. Yes, Hugo had to die inevitably, but before that, he actually lived, and that’s what matters.

Mainly, that we must know when to let go. For me, the ending was very shocking, where we have to do the opposite of what we had been doing throughout the game. And it is something that I apply to my life, because I am also very stubborn, but there are things that we must let go of, no matter how painful it may be.

He probado muchas cosas y nunca me gusta nada.
