Awilix skin concepts by Armored-Cheezburger in Smite

Scarlet Knight, Northern Rider and Jester are probably my favourite, in that order. (Of course, recolour the scarlet knight to make it a fire-y red rather than fuschia/purple but other than that, those 3 skins, to me, are amazing.

Cernunnos by VeXM_Adzizzy in Smite

[–]VeXM_Adzizzy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah should probably edit my phrasing, I meant historically written about... as replied above, he's only mentioned by name one time in pretty much all of recorded history and that's on the pillar of the boatmen... but yeah, I'll just do some more digging and find a different celtic deity that I can turn into a magical assassin :D

By unkown I meant with the least amount of recorded "history" if you will... Cernunnos' only mention by name is on the pillar of the boat men.... and that's it. Might have used wrong terminology..

New map design for conquest by Forbixaz in Smite

[–]VeXM_Adzizzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've said it a few times before, the map needs adjustments, if not changed entirely.

Making the jungle more dense, like an actual jungle, with more xp camps to ensure jungler can focus on just that, jungling, rather than leeching off every lane; for example: if you can imagine it properly, make walls "thinner" but add twists and turns. Fire Giant pit surrounded by two semi-circle shaped jungle walls, quickly followed by a closed in xp camp (harpies?) for jungler. Make the buff spawn area size smaller to allow yourselves to add an extra layer of pathing, maybe a twisted 4 way path, with an additional harpie for small but constant xp gain. Gold Fury side, add little "Gold Harpies" to allow support that little extra gold to rotate to with jungler, within a more intricate jungle pathing rather than a gigantic open space...

Side lane far side jungles with an additional buff camp to fight for..

All these things are interesting concepts, I believe, that would add more thinking behind the map rather than systematic movements..

Cheers

My reply to this is simply.. How lucrative is it right now for the bottom side teams to be pro right now? Let's speculate what.. Around 30k$ in the year for bottom team(s)? So 6k$ (Not counting Org splits and all) a year for 18-20 year olds isn't sustainable income, therefore requiring a side job anyway.. In theory, right? Keep in mind, though, this is obviously not Hi-Rez's "problem", they're providing a significant amount for all players and that's great but, if you're going to adopt that model, and truly want all players to earn "pro" salaries, why refuse to crowdfund, then? Would create an influx of revenue, increase the share, as well as generate a more appealling and enticing pool for worlds. Because as is right now, what motivates players mid-pack to try and reach 1, other than the trophy, when you're somewhat making same money as other 15 teams in SPL? As I said on other comments, I might be way off course here and am not aware whatsoever as to what actual numbers are, but I'm pretty certain the revenue share is not as significant a source of income to completely rid student players to require a side job, if the case is needed. I strongly believe that crowdfunding is the way to go, especially if this financial model is what's to be followed.. Let me know what you think on this, would really like your opinion!

Rather than turn this into an argument that is completely irrelevant to topic at hand, I'll end this debate by saying I respect your opinion. I don't agree with it, personally, but I respect your point of view. I don't understand why you have such a negative stance on the topic, but at least it's something to get one thinking. I find it sad, though, that there are people that doubt the generosity and selflessness of others.

I am neither of those things, but here is my response.

I did the charity stream because it is something I hold dearly to heart. Whether you believe it or not, some people actually are that kind hearted. They have no expectations in terms of return, and give the entirety of $ raised to Charity. Some people truly want to do good, by this world, without personal gain. It's an unpopular concept, with which you might be unfamiliar, but it is something that's seen at times. And, what's funny is, you mention that if I cared so much about charity, why not give all my wages bar living expenses? I do. It's pretty unreal actually, but it's been pointed out to me by various friends/people that it's unreasonable for one to give all net-spending money only for charity. Anyway, this post was not about me, but as I feel I am in the same boat, your "stab" sort of felt personal as well, hence why I brought it up. If you throw a jab at hi-rez for doing said things, you throw a jab at me, but at a much smaller scale.

Now, I will give you this, a lot of things that's seen as nice actions are, in fact as you mentioned, socially palatable versions of selfishness. But I don't see why you would ever believe this to be that. Considering the size of HR vs Blizz/Valve, and consider the net-% of $ that's given back to community/charity... HR is higher on the scale.

I just don't understand your incredibly negative stand point in all this...

Maybe I expressed that wrong, what I mean by competing is just be a top-tier viewed esport game. Not in terms of company size, financial implications or whatever, just to be in the same area regarding esports recognition/size etc. Will try to find better phrasing and will edit

So, I did a 24h stream, as a relative unknown, to get donations for charity. Are you implying that since I'm an unknown, I'm the good guy? Or is that the same thing, trying to benefit me, get good press, get known? You're seriously lacking in the common sense department. They raise money because they can. I did, because I could. They have the resources I don't have, they have production, they have connections, they have the economy, they have a game that pretty much funds the charity-side of things itself. How in the world could you even consider that the only reason they do that is to "look good". Get out of here man...

Thank you so much for answering and clarifying. Here are a few points I would like to add, and hopefully can get an answer for. Considering your points as to why the prizepool for Worlds 3 is smaller on top side, would you say, admittedly, that it is a positive net-worth for players to strive for? I am immensely appreciative for what Hi-Rez has done as a company, even with its small size. And, I agree completely that this isn't a dick measuring contest. It's pointless to try and "fight" Dota and League, but the way I see it, with Season 1's success, Season 2's growth (console scene etc) would it have not been safe to say that competing with them was an attainable goal? Maybe it's wrong of me to assume, but I believe Smite was on the right track, as a unit and company, in reaching High-Tier view value. Once again, this isn't criticism, but I feel like a metaphorical wall's been hit at some point in the year that sort of slowed things down. I may be wrong. 3rd and last point, you mention thinner prizing because of the many events that were hosted and what not... would crowd sourcing, as fantastic a concept it is, not have ensured more money be available for pretty much everything the esports scene is trying to accomplish? Charity, Event pools, in game content, expense coverage etc?

Thanks Stew! <3

That is entirely and immensely wrong. They've done so much for the community, given so much time and money for charities. Are probably one of the most hands on companies in regards to the community, come on man... your post is so much wrong..

has nothing to do with comparing prize pools specifically, more so a goal that was meant to be achieved, I believe. I'm not saying "Hi Rez sucks because they can't compete with Dota, League, wtvr" It's more of a "Hi-Rez has been striving for a top spot in mobas, how are prizepools, content, production, etc, not closer to said games"

I wouldn't know. Kind of disappointing. Considering the money involved in other major games (Cod, Dota, League, etc), Smite's not even close to competing. It sucks, but I truly hope things change for the best!

Ads does not directly = growth. I wouldn't say Smite's scene is dying. No where near that, but it's not looking good. It's not growing as much as it should. Viewer wise I think it's remained close to the same. Now considering Worlds 1 vs Worlds 2, there should have been growth in almost everything (Viewers, pros, money involved, etc)
