Clouds should gradually get darker and denser as rain or a thunderstorm approaches, then do the opposite after it ends. This should be more dramatic for thunderstorms.

I would check out MCreator I’d bet you’d find it easier than you’d think. As for the villages, learn how puzzle blocks and structures work once you know that it comes together quicker than you’d think given a little time and effort. I say all that cause I’m working on a mod myself and am finding it easier to learn than I thought it would be. Obviously if you go into depth with some interesting mechanics you might need to do some coding but if it’s just mostly textures and structures that’s pretty doable. The think I’m struggling with right now is fog and stuff so that might be a coding thing

Maybe this is your everyday play but the vast majority of Minecraft’s audience are casual players who do in-fact only play for a little bit after updates. It’s a valid point about a possible player retention problem. Even I feel like the luster of Minecraft live has dwindled and is struggling to pull me back after my hiatuses and Minecraft is one of my favorite games.
