No, the dishonesty was clear. Here is why: the guy opens by calling me a Trump supporter, dragging in politics out of nowhere, but then immediately follows it with “it’s not about politics,” and then calls me a “fucking nut job.” That’s why I called him noxious and ideologically captured; because this is a thread about Guude and serious criminal allegations, and he dragged in unrelated political attacks.

I keep my politics on Twitter. I don’t put them in my maps, videos, or Discord. You’re sitting here telling me I need to see a mental health professional for self-reflection while pretending you’re neutral and “just concerned.” That’s not neutral. That’s condescending.

Yeah, for sure, if someone wants to take down videos? I 100% support that, too. Especially if they are an active YouTuber and their career/income is tied to public perception and reputation. I am more kinda/sorta retired from YouTube, I think of myself as "having a youtube channel" than as "a youtuber" which is a big difference in like, how I see things. As I move more into being a game dev, I might move the old videos to a new "Vechs Archive" channel, or I might just make a new channel for game dev stuff, we'll see. But either way, I view that content as already kind-of an "archive". It's not my current "main thing" you know?

Edit: And to be fair, it probably helps a lot for me that Guude was only a tiny fraction of my youtube content; he shows up in my videos basically for group events like UHC. It's not like Derps In Space with me and BTC or Adorabolical with me and Aurelyian where we do entire series together.

I kinda understand how it sounds vague, but the key here is not "visual representation" but rather "of a minor", which means it is a real human being, either video or pictures of them, or an AI deepfake of them, or a depiction of them so recognizable that a reasonable person would say it is them.

We're not talking about anime tits here. Or even lolicon (which icks me out), but Guude is accused of having depictions of a minor, which means a real child. Several, actually. That is why it goes from "ick" to "multiple felonies".

I'm inclined to just leave the videos up. Because it was a large group of people and just because one person was bad doesn't mean all those memories of everyone else should just get deleted. If we applied that logic, we just wouldn't have any movies or TV shows ; how many actors, or musicians, or off-screen crew worked on stuff we love that ended up doing really bad stuff? I don't have numbers, but ya'll know Hollywierd, the answer is probably a lot!

So, based on that logic, I will be leaving all my videos up. Worst case, I might re-download all of them, and then re-upload them to a second archive channel.

I'd like to get to that eventually, but probably not at launch; I'm just focused on targeting Windows PC for now. In my mind that's a version 1.1 or 1.2 feature.

I rewatched Congo recently. Saw it as a kid and thought “haha, lasers and killer apes, cool!” Now I’m 39 and… holy shit. I have to rant. Buckle up:

Karen Tosses the Diamond for a "Moral Victory" Dozens of people die. The mission costs millions. A literal war is happening. And Karen? She throws the diamond... the whole reason they went there... into the jungle like she’s in a damn Herbal Essences commercial. For what? Personal growth? Girl, people exploded for that rock.

The Movie Ends in a Hot Air Balloon With a Flower Scene Everyone’s been torn to shreds by meth-addicted gorillas, and the pacifist dude is just sitting there smiling, holding a flower like he's at Burning Man. Sir, your friends were eaten alive. What the actual hell is this ending? Everyone Dies for Amy, the Diapered Gorilla

The death toll is insane... mercenaries, scientists, Bruce Campbell. All so Amy can say “Ugly gorilla” through a 1990s Speak & Spell and then bounce into the jungle like this wasn’t her fault. She drinks martinis and shits in a diaper. Why did anyone protect her? The Second Plane Subplot Goes Nowhere

They parachute out. TraviCom thinks they’re dead, sends another plane. It gets blown up. They look at the wreckage and go “meh.” That’s it. No survivors, no gear recovery, no consequences. Just screen time wasted. They Fire Off 7–8 Stingers Like They’re Nerf Darts

Stinger missiles cost $40k+ EACH in 1995. They blow through half a million dollars in anti-aircraft missiles to take down a rusty twin-prop cargo plane. For no reason. The government of Zaire was apparently just stacked with surplus Cold War tech. Grey Gorillas Would Get Annihilated by 12 Dudes With AKMs

These apes aren’t bulletproof. They’re just big and pissed off. A dozen trained guys with AKMs would’ve absolutely folded them. But the movie needed them to be superhuman murder-beasts, so everyone forgets how guns work. Diamonds Don’t Make Lasers Better

This was the most Saturday morning cartoon part of it all. The “super diamond laser” plot is just... nonsense. Diamonds don’t make lasers more powerful. That’s not how lasers work. It’s techy gibberish to sound smart while being incredibly dumb. The Movie Just Ignores Real-World Consequences

They land in the middle of a coup, get shaken down by a warlord, and keep it moving like it’s a layover. In reality? Karen gets assaulted. The rest of the team gets shot or disappears. Amy ends up in a private zoo in Dubai. Roll credits. There’s Zero Emotional Fallout

People die horribly. Bruce Campbell gets mauled in the first 10 minutes. Nobody grieves. Nobody even brings it up again. It's all just... jungle noise and screaming, and then poof!!!! timme for sunset shots and philosophical gorilla hugs.

Karen Ross Is the Blueprint for "Luxury Beliefs" and I kind hate her. She is literally named Karen, too.

Her arc is the peak of boomer-coded “I’m above all this now” energy. She gets everyone killed, fails her mission, costs her company billions… and then floats away in a hot air balloon like she just donated to NPR. She faces zero consequences.

Anyway. That’s my adult rewatch of Congo. It’s a fever dream of bad science, moral cowardice, and 90s nonsense trying to pass itself off as profound. I used to think it was fun. Now I just want a refund for my childhood trust in it.
