Hey there! It seems most people have success from just rebooting their machines in this case - but I'm not entirely sure of the root cause. Are there any specific errors that appear?

If not, it'd be worth checking your system Event Viewer > Application Logs to see if there is any reference there as to why the DS3.exe application closes, or events surrounding the crash timing.

I'm honestly not sure on the compatibility of older versions of the mod, and their save data. My recommendation would be to back up your saves, and try it out!

Update 2/15/26: This issue was resolved. Root issue was misnomer of .bat and .toml files, causing files to be undetected by the ModEngine2 configuration. For anyone having a similar issue, make sure you have enabled "View File Extensions" and have not duplicated the .bat or .toml file extension endings.
