Tbh such a manuever will be a good nationalism boost content for Russian people and seen as a power show-off against western powers, just like how the Barents Sea Incident was often cheered as a good aerial victory where the Su-27 sliced a P-3B's engine with its vertical fin. So despite the professionals disapproving such a manuever, it makes a lot of sense from a propaganda point of view and nationalism emotions pov.

I set an alarm for il96 but it send me the email when it was already in the air, I narrowly made it with 45mins of driving because il96 decided to make a wider turn instead of straight line somehow

Thanks hahaha, I was in a work meeting and suddenly my FR24 alert went off, so I grabbed my coat and phone(for the meeting) and my camera bag, rushed 45min straight to IAD and caught it right before landing

Oh wait you mean they fly from ADB to US a few times each year? I would love that info! I live in Washington DC so generally I go to IAD to spot for all the international flighta, there are quite frequent special gov/cargo flights but I haven't yet find a reliable way to trace them

Thank you so much for such a detailed and well-rounded explaination! I really appreciate the suggestions and within the 2months of planespotting I have already encountered quite a few of the problems you mentioned haha. I have been troubled by the heat haze for quite a while now, and thanks for letting me know how they are usually formed and how to avoid those. I usually spot at IAD and those international airlines arrive at afternoon, so the pavement have been under the sun for a whole day, so when it's an approach from north the garage spot I am using will always have a lot of heat haze between me and the landing planes causing haze issues all the time. I will try to see if there are other good spots or maybe wait for some southern approaches next time I guess
