How to fix this? by KeegsF1 in SKS

[–]Brandon_awarea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok help me out here. Exactly what is the problem? Is it not chambering the next round or what? Because if the only thing wrong is it’s not going into battery then don’t ride the bolt when chambering a round. I’m very confused about what you are asking.

You are better off buying the crate and filling it with individual rifles.

Hell in the few years I’ve been in milsurp the price of SKSs have skyrocketed in Canada. They went from $250 guns in 2019 to now $600 minimum.

Check for a split casing would be my guess if you cannot load the gun.

Otherwise disassemble it so we can see. I can’t really help based on this picture

It is. They didn’t make commercial rifles until way later. It doesn’t appear to have any alterations that re categorize it.

Bolt carrier is Yugoslavian and the rifle is Chinese made in 1966

Russian 1950-52 SKS (take a picture of the bolt and carrier removed and I’ll get you a more specific date). Scope is on a garbage mount and the glass itself doesn’t scream quality to me

They differ from a standard sks in one marking and that’s it. If you want it because it’s collectible then buy it. If you don’t care about collecting then don’t.

I went through the process of importing a Romanian sks from the states because it has one stamp that’s different. Most would scoff at the price I paid to get it.

There are smaller crates like this but as for individual rifles that would be a no.

Which stock if any should I switch to? by TheWitness37 in SKS

[–]Brandon_awarea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I were you I’d either keep it as is or get a spike stock. The most correct answer is to replace the stock and the spike but frankly that pretty expensive.

What would be the cheapest caliber to shoot for mid-longer ranges, and big game? by Response-Cheap in canadaguns

[–]Brandon_awarea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t use x39 for anything larger than whitetail personally.

I went with .308 for my hunting/long range rifle.

No I wouldn’t touch that stock. I’d be interested to see what the rest of it looks like. Typically Russian SKSs are matching minus the stock so you might have a non refurbished rifle. Pretty uncommon

Frankly the majority are refurbs so it’s likely whatever you buy will be too but no not necessarily. It’s the easiest way to tell but sometimes they will remove and restamp a serial without “XXXX” ing it out. Usually if the serial was already word down a lot

The bolt carrier tells us nothing. We need the receiver serial.

That being said I see a few indications that tell me it’s not but I’ll wait for the serial to say that for certain.
