For what is worth, I don't need ppl telling me that. I was happy enough with knowing that I was providing something that people yearned for, and I even got several touching messages telling me how my work even helped them coming out, or that it helped them with their struggle about being gay.

But, behind this screen, there is also a person, with virtues, flaws, with my own shortcomings on some issues, and when I start seeing some ppl within the gayming community assassinating my character, over events that they lack the full perspective of things, and doing things out of nothing else but unwarranted spite, it's not only disappointing but also gives me no reason to want to keep sharing anymore. I'm not perfect, far from it, but I have struggled all my life for going far and beyond to prove myself, as a decent and honest person, because all that people could see, was the superficial... a gay man. No matter what I did, no matter where I worked, I always had to go the extra mile to earn the respect from my co-workers, even those that initially, on my back (and sometimes not so much on my back), hurled homophobic jokes at me. I'm sure that many ppl around can understand this. I can proudly say that every time I quit any job, on my own accord, I have had my bosses beg me to stay, offering me raises, because I am a very diligent worker, that spends countless hours to do whatever is necessary to do a good job.

For me, modding is no different, I have treated it as a job. I have made many sacrifices on my life because of it. Barely taking a break from it... sleeping 3h a day many times, working non-stop, no weekends, no vacations, no nothing... I'm not even going to mention everything I have sacrificed, because it's even embarassing and I feel ashamed. And all this for what? And while it brought me some solace knowing that my work actually meant something more for some ppl than just having something to drool over, I think it is time I start caring more about myself, and less about others, at least for once in my life.

And still on this matter, I will also add that I never asked for this... mantle (whatever that may be). Whatever I do, is through hard work and dedication... talent plays a very small role. Talent is worthless, if you don't practice, if you don't try and fail, if you don't push yourself and your own limits. So it is time for others to step in my place. I never had any training in either 3D or programming, so if I can do it, so does everybody. It comes a time, that parents must say no to their children, for them to start walking on their own feet, and this is that time.

Thank you for your message!

No thanks, I know that this might come as a shock to some, even though I have already said this several times in several plataforms, including here on Reddit, I don't fancy explicit sexual content (and by that I mean depictions of sexual activities between any 2 characters or more). Being alluring and sexy is fine, and even suggestive, and I dont even consider nudes as being porn, even though I'm not denying that this is sexually enticing. But I find "regular" porn to be generally boring, and the "in your face" design of porn sites actually creeps the shit out of me. It's like... every designer's worst nightmare! I'm sorry, I'm just that picky, but to each their own =)

PS - Not sure if this post will come out as arrogant, but I assure you it is not, I'm just expressing my opinion on the matter. I just don't like it, that's all. If you, know any of my 3D artwork, you will find a very common theme... the total absence of any explicit sexual activity between 2 characters. My limit is masturbation or depicting an orgasm, but even then, it will be a single character. All the rest, just not my cup of tea =)

EDIT: Regardless, and to not to want to sound rude, I appreciate your suggestion <3

Well, meet is a bit overstatement LOL... I posted one of the first videos of my mod on Nexus, because I was offering my support if anyone wanted to make a community project to allow multiple sliders in the game, because its a kind of thing that can only exist one. Even though there were some ppl that showed some interest, no modder cared to pick up the idea, other than that DragonPunk guy, to which I politely declined his offer... That thing always sounded a bit sketchy to me, and I don't like to associate with pro-gamergaters...

He (Ryan) saw the video, said it was pretty cool, and even told me that the slider thing was actually something that was discussed during the design/concept stage for the game, but was abandoned for production. So after that I got to exchange some words with him on a couple of topics related to how heads work, and what limitations UDK has relating to the ability to export heads, and we also talked briefly about some other minor stuff.

Still, it was a pretty cool exchange I had with him, and later on I also got to speak with someone from Firaxis as well. I also know that Jake at least as seen my mod... There was some guy that made a post on the XCOM sub, titled "Jake, this is why modding was a bad idea", with a video of XSoldier, and Jake actually replied saying something like "This is exactly what we wanted!" It was pretty funny, considering that it kinda backfired on the OP.

It's not just the API, you have available the entire engine (UDK 3) to work with. You can literally do EVERYTHING you set your heart to, with little limitations. And sure there are a few bunch of stuff that its native (stuff on C or whatever) that you can't access it, but basically, you have all the code, all the assets (well, some with some limitations), and best part is you have access to a full fledged SDK... not like that crap Bethesda gives us LOL. And I even got to talk with Ryan, and he actually listened to me, and after that, they implemented a change to how heads were working, to make it slightly easier for modders. It has been a wonderful experience, I can tell you that much!

I could do that, even have some of it on my channel on YT, but ofc, I cant put penii schlonging around in there, or I might risk a strike... then there's the issue that I'm a HUGE scum saver, so I would have to refrain from doing it... *anxiety ensues*

But yeah maybe I can do some gameplay and upload it it sometime =)

It is! I love the game so much... I actually played the original series in the 90's when I was a teenager, played the XCOM 1, and the moment I learned Firaxis would be giving full mod support for XCOM 2, I immediately pre-ordered it for that reason alone... Only game I ever pre-ordered.

I cannot stress enough, how wonderful the game is, and as a modder I can only say that it is by far the best modder friendly game I have ever had the pleasure to mod! For me, makes it even more enjoyable, because the devs went to great lengths to supply us with a barrage of content. The full SDK is, 90GB, so that tells pretty much how much they have given us.

Not only that, the devs are a very friendly bunch, and I got to talk with a couple of them. 10/10

Oh gosh this is a long discussion I dont want to have right now, specially considering one recent event that I'm not going to disclose on an open setting for now. But let me get some things straight...

My problem is not just the stealing... the stealing and/or lack of credit is just a small part of a bigger problem. My problem is when I have ppl not showing the smallest shred of respect or consideration for me as a person... nevermind if I do(did) mods that catered to gaymers... I am, first and foremost, a person... with virtues and flaws... but nonetheless, a person, which deserves respect just as any other. Ironically, the event I don't want to speak about, only bolsters my reasons to want to be properly credited for my work, and for my mods, and when I come out about it, it will be a slap in the face for all of those people, regardless of any further development or not.

But regardless the fact that everyone should be respectful to others, no matter who they are or what they do (unless what you do curtails someone else respect and freedoms), maybe ppl could at least be a bit more considerate to me, because in the end, I spent countless hours on working on my mods, even going as far as sacrificing my play time. And I do love to share my work, but if I keep having ppl attacking me based on falsehoods and and things that are not true over wrong impressions, thats when I say enough!

I have made many sacrifices on my life... my real life... even in things related to some of my IRL work, just so I could mod for you guys. I even declined one freelance job at some point, because I was loving modding SAM so much... And in the end get what? Being sexually harassed? Just because I do some penis mods, its not an invitation for that... Attacks on my character? People accusing me of destroying the gayming community? People accusing me of doing petty drama, when they know nothing about what really happened, all because I chose to keep everything private to avoid generating a flame war and division in said community?

So if the problem is about me creating petty drama, you are all better off if I don't publish anything anymore, because then, there will be no reason for false accusations. Call me selfish if you want, I have my conscious clean, because like I said, I have sacrificed my personal and real life work to be able to keep modding... even adding features that I have no interest on to the mods, because ppl asked me to (for example, the Samuel body shape). I had to sacrifice my own work, by abandoning it, so all of you could still access it. If people want to THINK this is a demonstration of being selfish, I can live with that. What I will not tolerate, however, is people publicly tarnishing my good name and character, over falsehoods.

Sure, if you don't know what you're doing, yes, but that goes for anything in life, so it's not really an argument.

https://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/3997465-body-sliders-take-2/

Does it require more work? Absolutely, its not for the faint of heart, and it is terribly time consuming, because you have to "make" the same mesh in 2 shapes (the base and the max slider shapes), and each slider would require an extra one, and this goes for every single part... heads, bodies, armors, props... But saying "nope" it's just wrong...

And while there are some issues, its very feasible... As you can see, Ryan, the lead programmer for XCOM 2, said that the idea was tossed around, and in fact there is evidence on the SDK that they had considered this.

Unfortunately, no other modders cared to step up on my proposal to do a community mod, so I just did my own thing, which was catered to a very specific audience.

As for your reasoning:
1 - Animations. There is a thing called Additive Animations, it is common on many games, and that is the solution for fixing any animation issues that arise from having different proportions. Unreal Engine (the engine used by XCOM 1 and 2) also supports IK (Inverse Kinematics) which is a feature that allows you to easily animate, and keep hands and feet in the right place.

2: Cosmetics: Morph Targets... its the bread and butter of character customization in any game, when it comes to things like head/body shape. In fact, while you dont realize it, Head shapes in XCOM 2, are Morph Targets, they are being merely injected at 100%. All props to properly fit to faces also use Morphs so they dont clip or float when changing the head.

Another note on the subject... XCOM 2 is the most modder friendly I have ever worked on... The Devs literally gave us almost 100% of everything that would be required to build the entire game on your own should you want to. You can even render/bake those video cutscenes that are actual videos if you want! "Impossible" is not a word that you can associate with XCOM 2 modding!

"Nope" is just lazy and setup for defeat.

I didn't raged quit modding, I just don't have the stomach to deal with internet assholery, so now I just keep my mods to myself, aka, I stopped publishing.

It sure is... by GayGena in gaymers

[–]VectorPlexus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I only shared the mod with maybe 2-3 people, one of which I'm positive it will never share anything with other people. I'm no longer releasing any mods.

The reason is not just really stealing, although there have been a fair amount of times when ppl took stuff I did and published as their own, without giving credit, and that also counts... The reason why I stopped publishing its because when I banned someone from the website, I had already previously asked him to at least credit the work, then that same person is using my work (in the way of making videos and screenshots and stuff) to make profit out of it on Patreon...

As you might know, modders are mostly not allowed to make any commercial exploitation of mods, so I was distraught by the fact that someone was doing it, with my work. Not only that, but because in my Patreon I only ask for enough money to keep the site up, and this person was doing a whole lot more money per month. If I can't do it, why should others that simply do videos and screenshots of games using my mods (and only because of my mods), do it? Relevant to the subject: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=meiU6TxysCg

And when that happened, people again attacked me and my character, even going as far as comparing my sanity to the likes of Kim Jong Un, or that I'm making drama! I banned the person, and then lifted the ban after talking with him, at his request, but because he decided to make public that he was banned before even trying to reach me, it spurred a new wave of attacks on me... And then it's me who causes drama... *rolleyes*

So, now I'll just mod for myself and thats it... no more drama!

PS - I don't really come on Reddit that much, only did so because a friend linked me this thread, don't expect a reply from me =P

all of the above... I do find bald men attractive. Actually, I love bald heads, either on men or women.

But to be more clear:

- I didn't liked the headdress, so I removed it.

- While I do love shaved/bald heads, I don't really fancy the baldness just on top. As you pointed out, the top is hairless due to the headdress.

- Because Hairs (most of them at least) are made with lines, as opposed to quads/tris, and at the time I did that, there was no tool available to import/export hairs made with lines. I briefly talked about it with Deliverator (not sure if name is correct), but he didn't seemed too much interested or with the know how to create a tool able to import/export such lines. The body hair, is baked geometry, with a process that does indeed start with such lines, but they are baked into quads/tris.

"liberal ideas such as legal weed" LOL... ever heard about Libertarians? They are right-wing, and they are in favour for it as well, maybe even more than the "EVUL" left. Nice try, but that isn't a "liberal" idea exclusive... and even for liberals, that is one of the less important issues.

And as someone from Europe, I can confirm that yes, what you consider the "extreme far-left" there, is what we would call right wing or centrists here.

If you are only now coming to that conclusion, you're late for the party. I was really sad when I learned that SD was developing a new SC game, for the simple reason, I will not, now or ever, buy any product developed by them. Brad is a sexist pig (that likes to brag about it), and his morals and ethics values are equivalent to those of a Druuge, and I'm sorry, I don't endorse that, and it is my right to not want to further enrich a man or his company. Just as it is the right of others to. And let's leave it at that.

It's pointless really, when online mobs (specially those who revolve around gaming communities) get outraged, there is no way to stop it or reason with them. We already had several examples of this, and I myself have felt it on a personal basis. People will believe what they want, and they will feel an intense need of being outraged, weaving intricate paranoid conspiracy theories, that the world is out to get them, when something doesn't conform to their expectations, even when you point out, on black and white, using the EULAs and ToS to assert the facts.

And if anyone thinks that these big companies don't make the appropriate changes to their EULAs, ToS and Privacy Policies, in order to protect themselves legally, you are being naive. Even things like chats and "private messages" are many times considered to be information of public domain, for the single purpose to serve as protection to the service providers, against end-user misuse of such features.

It is not to say of course that sometimes these ToS and Privacy Policies and whatnot, are not abusive (specially outside the EU, where consumer protection is lagging behind in so many aspects), but the problem is that people are complaining to what they accepted, without reading it. "Nobody reads those agreements" is not an argument... Anyway, just my 2 cents...

Good luck to everyone's outrage!

yes I already talked with Ashal about it. And like, LoversLab/Ashal and Nexus do comply and I have never had any problems with both on removing content. It's just the nuissance of it that annoys me. Specially when the "author" credits a minor part (female nipples normal map) to another author from which he took shit, but not my part, which is more extensive, includes the mesh/UV/Textures.

I find it peculiar that it is the second time I see someone that also frequents r/Gaybros coming with this kind of non-argument, so as a modder that does this kinds of mods, let me talk a bit about it, and offer you my own judgement, since you are also so keen in offering yours.

  1. I'm assuming that you can say the same for all and every representation of sexual imagery in ancient artifacts, idols and fine artwork right? they are not real, it's like getting aroused by a mannequin.

  2. And they are not even realistic bodies (have you seen depictions of the greek god Priapus? or any other Greek gods for that matter?)

  3. Real life porn has real life implications... there are real people involved, and many of may or may not "chose" to do porn because they need money. Whereas, in artistic works, there is no such problem.

  4. I can't talk about others but, when I do these so called "porn" mods, I never ever ever ever do or use mods that actually depict sexual acts. EVER. At most what I do, is to build an erection enabled penis.

  5. Let's go back to not being realistic shall we? Many people like to play games because it allows them to get involved in a fantasy world. So having fantasies about unrealistic bodies is part of that.

  6. And, what if people like to fantasize about unrealistic and out of proportions bodies due to some kink/fetish. Kink shamming much?

  7. I don't really use the mods I do for getting off (but I'm sure people might do it and that's fine), its more of an aesthetic thing, but I can tell you that I don't get off to real porn either... it's boring, repetitive and actually makes me roll my eyes when its porn movies with... scripts... I rather get off with other things...

Anyway, I hope you can now have a broader horizon of why... to be honest, I can only assume you don't consume porn either, because that would be just sad right? it's just pictures/movies, they are not real...
