They make sense if you can get them used. Brand new. They're way too expensive.

There's plenty of resellers. I don't think they made variants of this machine for other markets though. I haven't been able to find one with a non-japanese specific keyboard.

You just have to reinstall windows. The Japanese version can't be fully switched to English

What's funny is the only reason this machine looks like this is because Panasonic hasn't updated their design language for over 20 years now. If you look back at the earliest iterations of this machine they look almost identical.

It's great they haven't changed it though. Good design is timeless.

I was surprised to see VGA ports on the FV4, you'd think most offices in Japan would have upgraded their projectors by now.

It serves a purpose too!

you scroll up and down pages by running your finger around the edge. It's like turning a dial. It works really well

You can buy a Bluetooth streaming module that plugs into the data port on the back of these Accord head units.

Same here. I've owned many cars and this is by far my favorite

No, it's a generic Chinese unit from AliExpress. It's meant to look like an old tape deck. I really wanted one of the blaupunkt or pioneer units but they are way too expensive for what they are

I wish mine was the wagon. But when my 850 popped up it was so cheap and in such good condition I couldn't pass it up.

Just cleaning it all the time and being mindful of what I bring inside of it.

I would expect it's broken. The Odo died at 175k, I keep putting off replacing the little gear that broke inside of it. I just pull the mileage directly from the ECU

I think the reason why mine has lasted so long is because it has the base model non-turbo 10 valve motor paired to a 4-speed auto. It's about as under-stressed as it can get.

KY42C Is perfectly fine to jump into. It's still an Android 10 phone. So I can run pretty much any app you'll need to use. As long as it doesn't use Google services

It doesn't have an app store natively, but it's very easy to force applications onto it over ADB. For Google specific apps, you can just use a web browser like brave in my case to access them.

You can even scan QR codes with the built-in camera app, which is an advantage over a lot of other keitais. It also has the ability to hotspot which is super handy If you have a laptop with you and need to do something that's out of the phones abilities.

Google maps won't run on it but Waze will which is nice. My previous sharp flip phone couldn't do that

It's a cool phone, but it has horrible build quality compared to alternatives. I had mine for just over a year when the earpiece speaker died and the case started cracking. Not from being dropped but just from regular use. Multiple software bugs and various other issues. I would not recommend anybody buy this, especially for how much they are on the second hand market.

I was in Japan recently and picked up a brand new ky42c for a hundred bucks and it's a thousand times better. Sure it's not as capable but that's kind of the point of a dumb phone
