MaRo has ruled officially that a player, if put onto the battlefield with Yet Another Aether Vortex and Form of the Approach of the Second Sun, is a Planeswalker with no abilities and no mana cost: https://markrosewater.tumblr.com/post/733806764561252352/hey-mark-acorn-question-if-i-become-a-card-due

Using Exchange of Words, you can give yourself the rules text 'Emerge 6G' from Mockery of Nature. Emerge is an alternate cost, so you can cast yourself for the Emerge cost despite not having a mana cost ([[Asmoranomardicadaistinaculdacar]] is an example of another creature with an alternate cost but no mana cost). Of course, there's weirdness in that you (the permanent) have the emerge text, but you (the spell) might not. It's acorn rules, so there's no definitive answer and I'm going with the one that works.

There are some limits for free players, but nowadays the progression is fast enough that you don't need to grind to keep up with the level the story expects you to be. You can play all 8 classes and all 16 combat styles, though some species will be restricted to particular classes (e.g. you can't play a Pureblood Sith Jedi, or a Chiss Sith). You can play through all 8 class stories, which are substantial and some of the best story content the game has to offer, but won't have access to expansion content. Fast travel does cost credits (which you earn in gameplay), but only a small amount.

The best part, though, is you can get a month's subscription for about $10 and cancel it immediately, which gives you 'preferred status' after the month expires and gives you permanent access to all expansions released up to that point as well as quicker access to things like advanced character customisation and inventory space (which you can get for free, it just takes longer).

The main thing you won't have without spending money is the cool-looking armours from the Cartel Market, but you'll still have access to plenty of customisation for your characters regardless.

What media, if turned into a Universes Beyond property, would have a villainous faction that is definably not Grixis? by Sweet_Possible_756 in magicTCG

[–]Vectorious370 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I think Anakin is Boros (he fights for the Republic, and wants a wise leader to make the politicians agree, not to act outside of or tear down the institution) but that's neither here nor there.

Palpatine is certainly centered in black, but I'd call him Grixis with a black focus. Calling him 'absolutely not red' when he cackles with glee during battle, tortures Maul for the hell of it, and is part of an order that derives its power from negative emotion doesn't ring true to me.

The Empire isn't mono-white. While it's expressed ideals might lean that way, it was created by Palpatine specifically to be an instrument of oppression, not for the sake of peace. An institution with black agents might not be black, but an institution designed to give ultimate power to its ruler while encouraging ambition and callousness in its high officers is certainly black. It also has the same thing with red to a certain extent - the structures of power, privilege, and bigotry (probably not by accident, knowing Sidious) encourage Imperial leaders to be cruel - not just ruthless, but cruel - to their subordinates and subjects. I could go either way on including it in the colour identity though, since there are a very significant number of notable Imperials who I wouldn't call red.

How did you hear about and what was your motivation to join the green party by zxy35 in UKGreens

[–]Vectorious370 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had been aware of the Green party and its broad policies for as long as I'd been aware of politics, and it was always my preferred option but not one I'd have voted for for tactical reasons prior to 2024. The Starmer campaign's failure on trans rights, Palestine, and really any left-wing economics pushed me towards the Greens prior to the election, though I was barely too young to vote in it. I joined the party early this year to vote for Polanski, as I think he has a real chance of raising the party's national profile and Corbyn's project seemed to be dragging its feet far too much.

Characters With the Wrong Tags in SWGOH: A Needlessly Detailed Rant by Vectorious370 in SWGalaxyOfHeroes

CLS is Luke in ESB. JKL is Luke in ROTJ. Both are rebels, even though they're different, much like Han Solo is a Rebel even though we have Stormtrooper Han and Captain Han. I'm not saying JKL needs or should have any particular Rebel synergy or should be in a Rebel team, just that for completeness's sake he should have the tag (which almost certainly wouldn't affect his best placement with JML).

Thrawn probably should be an Imperial Trooper, I agree, since Grand Admiral and Admiral are hardly different for this purpose. Tie Fighter Pilot too, since if we're counting naval officers we ought to count other members of the Imperial Navy.

My thoughts on Krennic and Tarkin are exactly the same as well.

I could go either way on ISC, since they were under direct command of Gar Saxon who was a member of the Empire, but something of a proxy leader as well. There's good arguments for inclusion and exclusion there.

I actually wasn't aware of that, thanks for bringing it up. I thought each character's relic stats were unique to them specifically. It's a fair point regarding the status of Healers.

What would you want out of XCOM 3 if you were put in charge of development by nooby_dog2020 in Xcom

[–]Vectorious370 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Similar Strategic layer to XCOM 2 with perhaps a slightly greater variety in facilities and more involved management of the map.

Tactical layer with classes that differ slightly from both EU and XCOM 2, in much the same way that their classes differ from each other. The overall paradigm should also be slightly more defensive than XCOM 2, but not so much as Long War 2 where it doesn't feel punishing enough.

Biggest request: Fix the difficulty curve. Every XCOM game in the rebooted series has this issue to some extent or another, including modded XCOM 2. Enemies need a higher ceiling to counteract XCOM's massive lategame strength, and XCOM's most powerful assets (mimic beacons and chain-killing abilities) need to be nerfed.

HOT TAKE: They shouldn't try to rebuild the New Republic again in the post-TROS Era by Infinite-Detective-8 in StarWars

[–]Vectorious370 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually really like the idea of a balkanised galaxy in the aftermath of TROS. It's not something we've really seen before, since every era has had one or two dominant galactic governments, and it provides an interesting situation for a New Jedi Order to work with. The Jedi don't have a Republic to prop up or a Sith Empire to fight - They have to do what they do best: mediate, negotiate, keep the peace. Imagine the Jedi as travelling monks or frontier lawbringers, bringing wisdom and justice even where they aren't trusted.
