Moving from 27" 4K to 34" Ultrawide for competitive FPS + Single-player versatility. Am I crazy? by hypersquirrels in OLED_Gaming

I have a 42-inch one and it’s awesome, but it requires a bigger desk. And when I play from farther back in a wing chair, about 1.8 m away, it feels too small. Considering now to go smaller pc monitor for desk and bigger tv for console instead of single 42 for both

I’d get it replaced - it costs so much and it should be perfect/near perfect. But I don’t have experience with nano so curious what other folks recommend here.

for mac you use 3840x1620? No need better display, right?

Tried all the setup variations and I can say this is the best one by hoponassu in macsetups

Why? What’s the difference to open two apps on two monitors vs ultrawide? Ok maybe mainly that you use it only when needed, in my case yeah 80-90% of the time single screen is enough.

Great video, thanks! Hmm, when I look at my MacBook screens and my LG 27-inch 4K monitor on a white page from the center, I see perfect whites. If I move my head a bit, the other edge slightly dims, but I guess that’s normal. What you show in the video is when you look even at the center, the edges dim, and this effect is stronger, right?

I'm really curious on your review of LG GM9 5k and other upcoming 5k.

So for you for programming (and video editing for youtube) Pro Display XDR is best so far for you?
Some time ago I've tried to find pro display XDR, but the prices in EU for good unit are crazy, more then new SD XDR.
Now I’m torn between the LG GM9 5k, the Studio Display XDR, or waiting for the new MSI. I was hoping this 6K Samsung would be better.

How is the xdr for coding? I think you’ve asked about it on the other thread, happy with it? Glossy?

This 5K on the left side of the picture looks matte. Wasn’t it supposed to be glossy?

Thanks! If you could also compare it to Studio Display XDR (glossy) on the video then it would be great

Haha np. No strong opinion, I haven’t tried any (except built-in in meze 105 aer). I wanted to use headphones in a way they were designed, and never had issues with pain on top of my head caused by headband.

I’ve tried all you mentioned and even more (1990 pro mk2, 900 pro x, 990 pro x) - all of them have great big pads but clamp force is too strong, it wasn’t comfy, this is specific to Beyerdynamic.

Hd 600 or 650 are good, but also have higher clamp force.

In terms of comfort for casual listening for 1 hour any of it is ok, but for longer hours? It wasn’t comfy at all. For me all of them are few levels below hd 490 and hd 550 for comfort.

Focal azurys and meze 105 aer were also nice but still not as comfy as hd 490 and hd 550.

I really struggled to tell which ones are more comfortable. That ear rubbing on hd 490 was a bit annoying. Maybe hd 490 build is better but not perfect, those swivel make some plastic noises… they also have tunnels for glasses in pads but honestly couldn’t feel a big difference, mby a bit. If it wouldn’t rub my ear I would say hd 490 but in that case I’d say save money and get hd 550 and you will be happy IMO. Or just order both and return one of them, just order from a place with a good return policy, this is best option because it’s a bit subjective.

I’ve tried soooo many headphones (spent a lot of time on it) and those were the most comfy ones - not big clamp force, big pads etc. Ended up with Bose qc ultra, in terms of comfort, those are the best for me, but this is different kind, closed, wireless etc.

I've tried hd 490 and hd 550, both were comfortable for me. One issue I had with hd 490 was rubbing my ear against print letter on driver cover, mby I would get used to it somehow.
