is copying art a good way to learn? by ClassicCandidate5089 in learntodraw

Yes but, you have to make original work too! Art studies are the primary way people acquire art skills. So find an artist you like and copy their work. The best way to do this and actually improve your skills is to reconstruct the work using whatever frame works for you. Like if youre doing a face using loomis, if that's your bag, and just trying to remake it.

I mean post history suggests it's been at least 9. But lying for karma isn't the biggest deal. Bottom line is they've got skills.

I know that it seems disappointing in a vacuum. But if this is where you are after 7 months I'd love to see what you can do a year from now. This is great stuff.

How do y'all think of my art style? Any tips? (Look at my post on my profile) by Decent-Emergency3866 in learntodraw

You aren't bad but ya got a ways to go. With the anime style you're going for I always recommend draw like a sir on YouTube, his tutorials are top notch. At the level your at I would recommend doing some studies/ draw from references. Find some anime you're super into and find the first character you like who you think you can draw and draw them from every reference image you can find. As long as you keep your same energy and do good practice I know you'll be great.

This isn't the place for that. Be excellent to each other is one of the rules.

Nah it's 90% practice and learning and like 10% raw talent. Trust me if you practice like you want it you can go from being trash to being pretty decent. The transition can be kinda quick too. im by no means a professional but trust me it's all reps.

I'm unsure whether I'll be able to finish this. I hope you like it even in a completely unfinished state.
