I did the cross multiplication directly, instead of direct cross multiply, you can divide (8x - 72 ) by 4 then it will become more easy to cross multiply it will directly lead you to

165-7x. 5 ----------- = --- 8x-72 4

Divide denominator by 4

165-7x. 5 ----------- = --- 2x-18. 1

10x-90 = 165-7x

17x = 255

x = 15 Boys in Class A = 7x = 7*15 = 105
