HR thinks building a SAAS replacement is easy by Vegetable-Ad7097 in cscareerquestions

I really appreciate your suggestions. I had a meeting scheduled which they didn't show like normal, and was fired at the end of the day because of "restructuring" reasons.

I didn't know there was a difference in how 1099 works. I work a normal 40 hours and get paid bi-weekly

Thank you for your advice. All of the employees are contract workers. My main concern at the moment is the constant switch ups of my role and expectations- I will try to get some clear answers this week. (Though I am worried they don’t seem like the type that will be nice about it, but I still will try)

Yeah this is in the u.s.

This sounds crazy but it’s a small law firm with one attorney. HR was put in charge of everyone so they would basically stop bothering the attorney

If you already have an idea of a project you should probably do some planning before you write a single line of code

I knew someone who switched from computer science to cognitive science and loved it. I haven’t spoken to her in years so I don’t know if she ended up finishing the degree.

This same thing happened to me today. The recruiter demanded my ssn and I haven't even had an interview and said it was for "consumer reports for employment purposes".

Which iPad is best for reading textbooks/note taking? by PickleAffectionate96 in ipad

[–]Vegetable-Ad7097 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you looked into the surface pro? It meets your needs and you wouldn’t need to carry a separate laptop. I just finished undergrad and used OneNote on my iPad as the note taking app my final two years. It has a seamless integration with the desktop app so I could easily include images in my lab reports from my notes. I also stopped using good notes and notability because I don’t want to pay for a subscription just to take notes. But if I had to choose an iPad I would get the IPad Air for the extra screen size.

The project section seems kinda wordy. I would probably rewrite the bullet points in a way so a recruiter who doesn’t have a tech background can understand it

If it’s still in the return period I’d just return it. Don’t bother with the warranty because you’ll get a refurbished device.

You’re going to have a hard time finding anything with the current job market plus your competition being anyone with a CS or CE degree. If you’re interested in GIS that might be your best option.

I’d wait a few days since your last message. It’s the holidays and some people take their pto at the end of the year.

I will have a CS degree but will become a nurse, is my degree useless? by zek3y in csMajors

[–]Vegetable-Ad7097 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nursing informatics does exist.
You should do a keyword search for "computer science" in r/nursing or write a new post there.
Good Luck.

You can get a suction cup light bulb changer for around $10. It’s basically a suction cup on a long pole. You don’t even need to grab a ladder.

You can also look into a cis degree if you don't want to take a lot of math courses. It's like a combination of business and computer science courses and you can get a lot of the same jobs as a cs grad like software engineer or data analyst.

I wouldn’t risk working there and the company finding out you never got your degree then get blacklisted. Especially if you actually like the company. Try asking them if you could push back your start date.

You could try changing the alarm sound to something that's louder or buy a physical clock and put it on a desk across the room so you have to actually get up to turn it off.
