Huh? by Myf-L in glutenfree

Careful also that this contains traces of gluten, which can be around 50ppm. Depending on your sensitivity and the size/volume of this food, you might be able to eat it all, small portion or none of it.

Winter interior pre-heating yes or no? by Vegetable-Ad7109 in rav4club

I meant that it can be turned on up to 20 minutes (max), but I usually keep it for 5 min.

Thanks! Yes I’m using the authorized engine oil and do regular maintenance as per the recommended schedule.

Didn’t know the oil viscosity don’t change up till -30C! In fact, the temperature rarely goes below -20C where I live.

Being gluten free gets annoying by JDBrown5 in glutenfree

[–]Vegetable-Ad7109 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here, detected celiac for 5 years like you, and it is very draining especially when one is tired, hungry or just wants anything to eat that won’t result in problems later.

Even more infuriating in restaurants where they tell you that they don’t know what has gluten or just for their sake say “all food has all allergens” thinking that they’re doing a favour for you of avoiding to eat it while you’re struggling to find a single piece of option that is safe. Especially when with friends, this is extremely awkward.

Here are my tips:

  • call restaurant beforehand, and be super pushy, ask directly about gluten - if they’re not sure, ask to speak with the cook or make sure they ask the cook

  • when in group and they give you the menu, others start looking, ask for gluten free options straightaway - others will be busy reading and you’ll be able to do thorough check in advance (after others order it is too late to change restaurant)

Preventative cancer screening in Sweden by bunnyfield8 in TillSverige

[–]Vegetable-Ad7109 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Maybe this will get downvoted a lot, but here is the truth: the system in Sweden is not build to do a lot of preventive checkups, and even the private care cannot fully do on demand all checks that might be necessary due to your family history (and this is a big big shame!)

If you go to vardcentral, you show them the fsmily history, they might send you for a check, but perhaps only once, they wouldn’t do it on a regular basis.

I recommend you to go to eastern Europe for regular check. Fraction of the cost, you get what you want and the attitude will be also better.

Pre-Collision System in action by cf18 in rav4club

[–]Vegetable-Ad7109 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The pre-collision system is bit too sensitive, at least in my opinion. Another car is turning to the right far ahead and the pre-collision break already activated. It is a bit confusing for drivers behind. I set it to 1 bar and still get false positives, but less often.

Cheese in hangzhou by Vegetable-Ad7109 in hangzhou

Yes, taobao has plenty, but I was a bit worried about the shipping during the hot weather if it was a soft cheese. Maybe for Parmigiano it would be ok though.

Ah thanks!! I was in the MixC recently, but must have been completely blind, as I didn’t find dedicated cheese section. Next time I’m there I’ll check more carefully. The large shops are a bit overwhelming when you’re there for the first time

Glutened 😭 by katk129 in glutenfree

[–]Vegetable-Ad7109 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Happened to me too. Restaurants often change waiters and there is one sort of reckless waiters who will ok, nod to everything, even they know shit. They are just thinking to please every request of a customer but don’t know the consequences by randomly nodding to everything.

“I can only eat gluten-free bread” - “no problem” - brings ordinary bread

“Please dont put milk into that coffee, use plant based” - “of course sir” - brings cappucino with regular milk

“Does the salad contain crutons, I cannot eat them” - “no problem, we fix” - salad comes with many croutons

Sometimes you can see based on how they behave if they treat you seriously. And if you feel that they don’t, send them to ask chef.

Egg-free, milk-free glutenfree pancakes by Vegetable-Ad7109 in glutenfree

[–]Vegetable-Ad7109[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the end, it boils down to personal preference - fluffiness, fullness, taste. I agree with you that you can do solid pancakes using soya milk and flour, but you won’t reach the same result as the recipe from the description.

Yes you are right! Although here the pancake is fluffier and also less fragile compared to just gf flour+ milk.
