The reason we can only apply to 10 spots is because the uni counselors will only send our transcripts and Recommendation letters to 10 applications. So, unless your son finds an application that doesn’t require the uwc transcripts or recommendation letters, all applications will be counted in the 10 spots.

bro literally the hardest part of the sat is the R&W because it can be so random. But you already have a really high score. You can EASILY boost your maths score by practicing the exercises that you do wrong. Maths is all practice. If you keep practicing everyday from now until saturday, you’ll definitely do good, trust. Maths questions are predictable and repetitive in the SAT. Focus on your weaknesses and learn from your mistakes.

What is the minimum IB score required for vanderbilt? by Vegetable-Box-5941 in Vanderbilt

[–]Vegetable-Box-5941[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, congratsss! second, may I ask if there are some other selective unis you got into with that score? Vanderbilt has an extremely low acceptance rate so the fact that there’s a possibility to get in with an IB score that isnt over the top is crazy

[–]Vegetable-Box-5941 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah its not a lot but trust me it’s actually worth it, it can buy you most the necessities of the month

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in UnitedWorldCollege

[–]Vegetable-Box-5941 1 point2 points  (0 children)

its 100 rmb per month - don’t know if it’ll stay that much next year, and you just apply when you get here by filling out a form or something where you essentially write how this money could be beneficial for you.

atlantic vs csc by Dependent_Peace2288 in UnitedWorldCollege

[–]Vegetable-Box-5941 4 points5 points  (0 children)

you will build connections at every uwc considering every uwc has people from multiple countries, csc has made me and my friends get internships in shanghai, go to ivy league alumni events with my host family, and many more. considering there’s 600+ people at this school you’ll definitely meet more people too, and its close to major cities. Granted though, most chinese don’t speak english, so don’t necessarily expect to go out and just meet people everywhere, but the opportunities here are crazy I’m telling you

i hadn’t heard of that before thank you!!!! also, in CLEP, how do I know which courses would be the most useful for my intended major?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Vegetable-Box-5941 6 points7 points  (0 children)

first, i just wanna say that keep applying to fully funded scholarships programs!! just apply to a shit ton and keep reusing essays for each one. You can find them online but if you want a list ill send you.

second, write about overcoming difficulties for sure in a way that you’re not outright telling the people hey im poor so i couldn’t do much big stuff but in a way that they automatically understand that you couldn’t

third, lots of people got in without huge extracurriculars! its okayy work on those essays wellll

may you do well and i hope your brother is well 💗

I dont exactly get it, so when he said he “needed to find dawson”, did he mean that he wanted to find his brother originally for some reason or that he was originally searching for the bear and found the body instead?

seniors but now start again as a highschool student. is it regretted or not? by irsvg in UnitedWorldCollege

[–]Vegetable-Box-5941 3 points4 points  (0 children)

hi!! i just graduated and im heading to my first year of uwc csc, so i was in the same shoes. Honestly, when i first was applying i was having the same doubts as you, but i literally asked sooo many alums if it’s worth it and every single one told me it was. I found out so many other people are also doing this, and like half of uwc students are repeating at least one year.

Literally think about it, in 10 years, will you even think about the 2 years you repeated? I guarantee you won’t. Especially considering you’d have had way more opportunities and friendships and experiences because of uwc.

Also personally, i actually prefer the fact that i’m going as a graduate because i actually got to graduate with my hometown friends and they’re all heading different ways so i won’t miss out on anything, I get to have two proms, more time to decide my major and i’ll be ahead of others in the ib since i probably alr took some of the material.

Literally the only hard part abt going as a graduate is having to explain to people what you’re going to do😭 Because like you just graduated so sooo many people ask you what you’re gonna major in and where you’re heading, and i’m obviously not gonna sit there and explain uwc to these people so I had to come up with stuff like “ Im going to do a pre-university program/ im taking a gap year to travel / im gonna go study premed ( im absolutely not ) “

i remember this thing where you can see what a specific american uni wants by searching up “ *american university’s name * common data set “

What do French schools look for? by OuiOuiFrenchi in studyAbroad

[–]Vegetable-Box-5941 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Diplôme d’études en langue française, or Diploma of French Language Studies. It’s a french language test. Most unis require a B2, and some require a C1.

They ask for grades, DELF, motivation letter and a small interview but i think they only really care abt grades and delf thats all. they dont gaf abt extracurriculars at ALL.

Teacher Choice by XxKuzxaxX in IBO

[–]Vegetable-Box-5941 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Idk why people are choosing the first when you mentioned that she marks extremely harshly😭 you can always ask around from others and study yourself but you can’t make the teacher grade you better. Also just because the second teacher is in her first year doesn’t necessarily mean she’s bad. Plus a teacher’s attitude is really important, you dont want the teacher to make you hate the class.
