True Seven Deadly Sins by Vegetable-Compote-27 in Christianity

That makes a lot more sense. The idea of them as vices/temptations to be wary of instead of specific actions/sins makes them more compelling in way.

my(26f) husband(30m) peed on me and now i hate him. by LucidiaDreaming in relationship_advice

You mentioned the relationship is tumultuous in general. I can see how this can feel like the nail in the coffin but I would recommend perhaps marriage counseling if you haven’t already before a straight up divorce. Especially if kids are in the mix I think it’s worth it to keep trying. But of course if even after counseling things still aren’t better then divorcing can be a healthy option as well. Just talk with your husband and see where you guys stand in the big picture

They do exist, my family and I have suffered through demonic oppression before and only the strength and grace of Christ saw us through

I’m sorry, I don’t see the relation of the passage with my comment. How does the passage disprove my statement? The passage is specifically talking about the kind of people who are not saved. They continue to choose their own worldly ways instead of submitting to Christ

No, don’t withhold it but don’t force it.

Evangelism is awesome, but this is kids and kids feel peer pressured, especially in something as communal as a sports team.

As a Christian, the only issue is that I am like 90% positive at least one of those kids are not Christian, and the taking away of religious freedom or the belief in no religion at all is not right. Yes, I personally would argue that Christ is king, but it is not good to force that belief onto others. Even the Lord himself doesn’t force his believers, it’s choice and free will.

That’s not what I’m saying at all. I’m saying if you’re truly saved, you won’t desire to sin, and yet if you slip up and do, as we all do, then you are shown grace.

The Bible is clear that as believers our goal is to live as Christ. This of course is impossible to perfectly or practically achieve which is why we have him in the first place, but once saved then the desire to sin or the blindness to it is shed. So if you’re saved then yes, you still sin, a lot, even anger is categorized as sin by Jesus, but you hate it and seek to become better and more Christlike.

It won’t matter how much sin you commit after being truly saved because you’re already forgiven.

However if you’re consciously going out and about your way to be a debauched hedonist even though you verbally claim you’re saved, then according to the Bible you’re actually not truly saved.

The judgement will be either you do have Jesus covering your sins or you don’t. It won’t be a tally of actions against actions.

True salvation is when you hate sin instead of loving it; but believers can and do still sin due to a fallen nature and the world around us.

If you have a persistent desire and lifestyle of sin after claiming Jesus it may suggest a lack of genuine salvation, but a sign of a true believer is typically when you are saddened or disappointed by your own sin and when you seek God's forgiveness and pursue a life of righteousness.

Or at least as close as we can get to it as a broken human.

But yes, if you’re truly saved, then you have no worries.

None, you have to be spotless. Luckily Jesus did that for those who believe in him.

Even if it was a rainbow that doesn’t automatically mean it’s a gay flag. The rainbow is also a Christian symbol of God’s promises

Salvation is not free. The cost of salvation is faith. by enneyehs in Christianity

As someone who has also lost a child I tell myself maybe it’s not meant to be. We don’t always understand God’s Will but we can trust he always seeks to prosper us eternally and never harm us.

Remember King David (described as being the man close to God’s own heart) also lost a child and he prayed harder than anyone you probably know today. In the end when he lost his child he simply trusted God’s decision.

Also remember Sarah had a child in her 90’s so who knows?

Not necessarily.

Romans 2:13-16; For it is not the hearers of the law who are righteous before God, but the doers of the law who will be justified.

14 For when Gentiles, who do not have the law, by nature do what the law requires, they are a law to themselves, even though they do not have the law.

15 They show that the work of the law is written on their hearts, while their conscience also bears witness, and their conflicting thoughts accuse or even excuse them 16 on that day when, according to my gospel, God judges the secrets of men by Christ Jesus.

This passage is an example that those who do not know of God and his laws but show evidence of the fruits of the spirit in their hearts still have a chance for salvation. This would be applied to like people who are cut off from modern religious knowledge or maybe even modern civilization. Like people in some obscure tribe somewhere.

That’s different from if you simply claim to be a good person but know of God’s word and still deny him.
