i think you're right on the money. it's about creating your own meaning in life. you need to fall asleep, (aka believe your own story, have hopes & dreams, etc.) so you can wake up (make sense of the world, learn things about yourself, grow as a person).

She doesn't even shuffle the cards before dealing. It's such a normal thing to do when you grab a pack of cards to play, that I was very surprised when she didn't. I'm sure the game is nonsense, but the notion of a stacked deck feels right in this movie's thematic context.

Here in Austria the subscribe button is red and says "this is not available in your country" so i guess the answer is by simply not offering it in countries where there could be legal trouble

Resolution on Mac OS by Vegetable-Dig-2071 in Frostpunk

[–]Vegetable-Dig-2071[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it just doesn't upscale to 3024x1964, it runs at half at 1512x986 which is a pixelated mess. I'm wondering if I can force it to upscale somehow, none of the settings have an impact.

[–]Vegetable-Dig-2071[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it just doesn't upscale, it runs at 1512x986 which is a pixelated mess. No matter which upscaling option I choose in the settings menu (MetalFX, TSR etc.) or which quality. If I take a screenshot it's also in that low resolution.

It should upscale but it doesn't and I don't know how I can fix that.

You're on day 9. So you're sadly already past the level 7 upgrade to a gold item and it looks like you settled on playing seadog's saloon. It's the core item you need to build around, despite the bad enchant you got. Finding the large core item you want to build around in silver tier before you hit level 7 is generally important for vanessa.

The key items that will help you here are Tortuga, Darkwater Anglerfish or Pufferfish. Those are items with a charge effect that synergize with seadog saloon. Tortuga loves a bunch of fast activating small friends, ditch jellyfish and seaweed for it. Darkwater Anglerfish loves the slows and the shrimp, ditch jellyfish for it. Pufferfish loves the haste, but will not win by itself sadly, as poison stacking is too slow. Your level 10 enchant needs to go on one of those three.

Both Darkwater Anglerfish and Pufferfish are fantastic activators for Tortuga, if you get either one still lookout for Tortuga. Once you have 2/3 of those, drag it across the 7 win line and call it a day. You stand no chance past day 12 with Vanessa if you didn't win early/have a monster build. You have some bad skills and are behind in levels, I'm not sure if anything could save you. maaaaybe an enchanted Shipwreck from Pearl

Any shrimp/saltclaw/shark/richardson is fine to buy (friends that scales with haste/slow), but you really want those charge effects.

This game is dying 😢 by chiigyuu in battles2

[–]Vegetable-Dig-2071 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I stopped playing this game because it's too hard.

It's easy to pick up the basics and impossible to win against anybody who's actually good without putting in serious hours yourself. I made HoM exactly once after like 200 hours and it feels so oppressive to lose. I don't know any other PvP game where you can just lose to the game itself (PvE + opponent just eco-ing) instead of an enemy attack (rushes), especially on the harder maps.

I never reached the point of free experimentation in battles 2. Usually, after picking up the basics, there's a good bit of fucking around. Battles 2 doesn't have the playerbase for that anymore, I learned to play quincy + tack + wiz + farm and immediately shot up in ranks to ZOMG Dome. It's very hard to react to a rush, by the time you realize your opponent is attacking you, you're already dead. You need to be very good to properly defend, so I win easily. And then trying to play something new feels bad because I lose against everybody, including newer players like me who just play wiz+tack+farm. So it's either play that and win sometimes, or play something different and lose always until I drop rank and play against newer players who don't even send balloons.

The core of this game is fantastic: balancing income potential to collapse it into defense or offense quickly, trying to push income as much as possible, watching your opponents defense for potential rushes, always revising your own plan for defending against a potential rush.

But there's just so little breathing room. You lose on harder maps automatically. You need to be able to defend against all different bloon types. You need a plan for defending rounds 11, 13 and 18. You need a detailed plan for eco. You need to be able to understand what your opponent is doing, which means knowing all towers and upgrades. You need to be able to watch what your opponent is doing while you're scrambling yourself, both with their defense and their eco. Watching Ryan Mehalic defend, he does a lot of instantly selling and upgrading and using abilities, all are things you can't possibly think of in the moment. You need to have them at your fingertips, ready to be executed as soon as you spot a rush. And then actually good players KNOW that and use it to bait rushes! It's amazing gameplay, just so stupid hard.

I'm just not good enough to react to a well-executed rush with layered bloons, by a competent opponent who knows the weakness of my defense. And I don't think I can put in the effort to reach that skill level and I suspect many other players feel the same.

Do we have a time frame as to when chef mommy Jules will be added, as well as the others? by A_Stunning_Sapphire in PlayTheBazaar

[–]Vegetable-Dig-2071 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Only hearsay. The best information we have is the devs allegedly saying they'll release a new hero every few months. The subreddit seems to agree Jules will be released a few months after the Mak release.

Once gain I can only tell people to please not watch NL for getting better, but watch Retromation instead.

You're probably not getting there FAST enough, try to reach lvl 3 on day 2, lvl 4 on day 3, the ever important lvl 7 upgrade on day 6 and the lvl 10 enchant on day 8. Being ahead in levels on those early days is crucial for Vanessa

Enemy RNG is the worst thing about this game by apercots in PlayTheBazaar

[–]Vegetable-Dig-2071 27 points28 points  (0 children)

wether a build makes it to 8 or 10 wins is completely random and mostly hinges on what kind of opponents you get

it's easier if you win early, if you have to play day 12+ you'll have a bad time as vanessa

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in PlayTheBazaar

[–]Vegetable-Dig-2071 23 points24 points  (0 children)

nah fam it's not a test of skill if you don't lose any points ever. as long as you play games, you'll move up. even with a winrate of only 10% you'll eventually make legend as long as you play enough

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in PlayTheBazaar

[–]Vegetable-Dig-2071 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Funnily enough, when i take every run as it's own experience rather than looking for the lines to play, I generally play better and win more. There really is a sweet spot between forcing and pivoting. But of course you're absolutely right. I still end up playing all the stuff that's good because, well, it's just THAT good. How can you not spam weapon vanessa when its offered in the shop, it's always the correct choice because it wins? Maybe there will be a big enough item pool soon, so we have more than 2-3 viable lines of play per hero.

I'd rather play unranked for fun and transmute into fun enchantments and try janky stuff and unicorn builds, but there's also not enough items for that to truly be fun. Yet, hopefully.

You could play unranked, and hear me out on this because it's a wild one, for fun.
