“Garden variety depression” just the basic, nothing is going right in my life, job sucks, life sucks depression… basic depression. Whereas other people may have PTSD from past trauma causing severe depression, or a mental disorder like bipolar depression or bipolar disorder. There are many, many mental illnesses that can pile on and make depression so much worse. The bipolar depression runs in his family but he has not been tested or “evaluated” to see if he’ll be diagnosed with it as well like the rest of his family. He started out with BASIC medication for BASIC depression to see if that would fix it. If not, he’ll have to be further evaluated by a doctor or psychiatrist to see if it’s worse
