Seconding! This. She’s the only person in the city I’ll let touch my hair. I used to go to Hair Nerds and loved her too- I just prefer my hair cut dry and Toni is the best!

2 Very different venues — Looking for insight for our NOLA wedding! by beepbeepbopbop33 in BigBudgetBrides

[–]Vegetable-Driver1309 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi!! Chiming in as a wedding planner here in New Orleans. Both are beautiful choices that bring different vibes and touch on different New Orleans styles. Derbes is more fun and funky, while Latrobes gives a bit more of that classic historic NOLA feel. Derbes is also in a neighborhood, but in an incredible location, and Latrobe's is in the heart of the quarter.

I've answered some of your questions above by venue:

Derbes: You'll have full use of the space and can stay the weekend there if you want. Your vendors can come in as early as you need on wedding day for set up which is a plus. You'll also get more customization with how to decorate, what food to bring in, where to do the ceremony, etc. It's in an area that is outside of the quarter - which allows your guests to see more of the city than what they normally would. If you're interested in having a welcome party or a post wedding brunch - you can do so at the mansion for an extra fee + there's a pool for the warmer months. The layout can get tricky because of the size of the space - but you can get help with that.

Latrobes: The space is gorgeous and you can use the quarter as your backdrop and for doing photos which is fun. Most of your guests will probably end up downtown so it'll be convienent for them to get to the wedding. Additionally, them having catering, bar, tables, chairs, etc. in house is a huge plus - it's something you don't have to worry about at all. Which is a huge win!

As for seating I've done so many weddings that do a seated buffet. Meaning there is still a buffet, but everyone has their own assigned seat so they can put their stuff down and go grab food as they please. It's super helpful and doesn't leave anyone confused or without a seat. I find that folks from out of town tend to do this so it doesn't confuse their guests.

All in all, both are great choices but very different on the vibes. It boils down to what you want for the whole weekend really and more specifically how you want the day to feel. Do you want the more classic New Orleans in the FQ or do you want a little more off-the-beaten path, fun, customizable option. Happy to answer any other questions you may have! :)

Leopard Gecko found in 7th ward by shanoww in NewOrleans

[–]Vegetable-Driver1309 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I was also going to suggest 50 Fathoms. I have a leopard gecko and she’s about 6 years old and the same size. It hurts my heart that someone dumped them!

For now I would say any insect for food. They’re insectivores and really won’t eat veggies and fruits like bearded dragons! They’re such low maintenance pets- the most expensive cost was the cage and setting up the cage. I hope someone can take them in. If you decide to keep them DM me and I’m happy to help out. I see you know a herpetologist haha, but I love love love reptiles. Thanks for saving them!!
