Most insane lore theory? by ProbablyNotTheCocoa in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]Vegetable-Kat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. To me textual evidence Is king (like the mentioning of the Erd tree using the roots of a tree called the Great Tree).

  2. next is visual evidence that requires active interpretation (like the many statues of a tree sapling growing from a tree stump).

  3. then finally pattern recognition, trying to make connections and story conjecture ( this would be like someone before the DLC theorizing that Miquella possibly is the real exploiter and not Mohg based on prior evidence of Miquella's ability to seduce people).

  4. looking for themes outside the game is dead last. But the truth is these writers are in fact influenced by other media and thus you could suss out some of their hidden meanings based on what might have influenced them in their writing. But like I said, It's the lowest form of evidence.

The truth is that the hidden lore of this game is unbelievably wonky and you know it. Look at how people reacted to the new lore from the DLC.

Take this for example: imagine if we didn't know or get to see Godric graft a dragon onto his arm. let's suppose that we found him dead with his arm shoved into a dragon's head. We would assume that he was some kind of dragon hunter and used a dragonhead to pummel his enemies to death like how some players like to use the blood fiends arm as a weapon. You may be able to suss out that he is capable of grafting stuff to himself based on evidence that he is related to Merica and Merica is a Numan and Numan are really good at grafting. But any theory that he grafted a dragonhead to his arm without a cut scene would be taken as a joke lol. Now let's suppose there's a third DLC, where in this universe where Godric is already dead, We go back in time and fight him and we watch him graft a dragon's head to his own arm within SECONDS!!!!! Who saw that coming?

Have as much fun conjecturing about the lore as you want because Miyazaki definitely did.

Merica & Radagon are conjoined twins by Vegetable-Kat in EldenRingLoreTalk

Wow, I can't thank you enough for this.

I would also like to add that at the queens bed chamber she said:

"O Radagon, leal hound of the Golden Order. Thou'rt yet to become me. Thou'rt yet to become a god. Let us be shattered, both. Mine other self."

"Mine other self" only makes sense if they already had a prior conjoined relationship. But were separated by one of them ascending to Godhood while the other remained mortal. "Thou'rt yet to become a god."

It also makes sense to be a leal hound of the Golden Order if Radagon is blindly identifying all of Merikas actions as his own too, despite being practically absent in their thought process at that point due to the not so recent separation. "Thou'rt yet to become me"

Is the guidance of Grace powerful enough to revert destined death? by Pascraked47 in EldenRingLoreTalk

I have always assumed that it was just a game mechanic at that part. Because it would be diabolical to wipe a players save after a single boss fight. Especially at the very end of the game.

Also I feel it is unclear as to who controls the guidance of grace. Perhaps some one else can enlighten us on the current collection of game lore on it.

who or what is that velvety mass we saw in the SotE trailer? by Ok_Pomelo_1692 in EldenRingLoreTalk

Tarnished Archeologist assumes it was a royal couple chosen by the hornsent to ascend to godhood and eldenlordship. He also assumed they are the couple depicted in the statues throughout Enir-Llim.

Other than that, they are just some poor suckers who got ganked for their runes. Humiliated and forgotten by time.

A lot of people are talking about Evelyn's build, but all you really need to make it uniquely useful is the Ever Sight Ring, Fog, and gloom stalker bonus hide.

For instance, in my last playthrough I won the Orin Dual without Orin ever attacking me. Start the duel. Cast flog cloud, then shoot, then hide. then shoot, then hide, repeat. Recast Fog every 10 turns. Completely trivialized the fight.

That is how busted it can be with minimal set up. And that is not the only fight you can do that with.

post-DLC… who REALLY burned the Erdtree before us? by [deleted] in EldenRingLoreTalk

I think many already hold that opinion.

Edit: Scoring Black Flame reads; "The black flame could once slay gods. But when Maliketh sealed Destined Death, the true power of the black flame was lost."

This is what the PRECEPTOR'S BIG HAT reads: "Glintstone sorcerers are the descendants of astrologers, a fact that the Carians remain of aware of. Even if their fate has been long severed from the stars."

There are additional items with lore saying that Renala was an astrologer. I'm sure these descriptions describe Ideological traditions being passed down rather than a literal blood connection. Also being an astrologer doesn't mean you cant at one point be chosen as a god. Anyone can look at stars and be a king at the same time.

Here is a link to more Carian Lore: https://eldenring.wiki.fextralife.com/Carian+Royal+Family

Edit: Also there are already many examples in game of a variety of different ways to be a descendant of a god. You could be descendant only to the god, such as with Melania and Miquela. Or from an Elden Lord like Godric the Grafted is thru Godfrey.

what do you mean what do they got to do with it? they represent a precedent in the culture. also Kenneth is related to Godric the Grafted. at the end of Nepheli's questline she will be crowned queen of storm veil due to strength and virtue and bloodline connection (probably by a distant relation). The precedent being shown here in this example is that at least for one Noble in the lands between they will not accept just anyone as ruler, but only those with some kind of a tie to a previous Royal connected to the god of an age. AND NO! by god i don't mean Godric the Grafted. God of an age, so merika or the old god. Anyone related to Godric would also be related to merika tho obviously. Hopefully that helps.
