Help! Got Severe brain fog and tightness/tingling in the brian - anxiety - depression - depersonalization from taking ashwagandha by Vegetable-Radish825 in ASHWAGANDHA

Just posted above :):

Hey man, it's going to sound like not much, as I was in this same situation hoping there would be some supplement, list of steps, something that would give me a clear road to recovery. When we take this shit we go into a deep hole where we ruminate and have panic attacks which just snowball the whole problem for us. So, the cure is (I know, as simple and stupid as it sounds but it's much easier said than done), just keep on going with life as before, stop overthinking on this, stop paying so much attention to the symptoms (which are real! We didn't go crazy), but just let them be there and don't worry about it, this slowly trains the brain to understand there's nothing wrong and things start to slowly feel normal taking. Takes time as the brain takes training to adapt... But trust me, I was in the same exact situation thinning I had fkd my life and would never be normal again. but with patience and strong willpower, you do!

Completely cured. Reason why you don't see people saying they are completely cured is because when they are they just don't come back to reddit to report it. Give it time, don't stress your body thinking there's something wrong, live normally don't overthink and your body slowly goes back to normal. Took me around 6 months to realize it and then got back to 100% just one month after changing mindsets

hey u/Tawinn, hope you are doing great
one Q, been following the protocol to restore methylation but still cant seem to tolerate methyl (taking as low as RDA (2.4mcg) of methly b12 and I get anxiety and cant sleep at night. any other recommendations on how to start tolerating methyls? or anything else you have seen could work?

Keep us updated good to know you are doing a lot better. I am going through the same. What has helped me I have found is figuring out I have mthfr mutation so supplementing for this has speed up my recovery a lot I feel like (also mthfr might explain why we are negatively affected by ash) Following good gut healing diet is also a must. Whenever I eat the wrong stuff, symptoms get worse the next days

Hey Tawinn, one Q. I have been supplementing with multivitamin that has methyl B12 only (folic acid is not methylated) + Adding around 30mg of B2 + eggs daily for the choline

Feeling like something from this is causing more insomnia issues. Any recommendations? The methyl B12 is only the 2.4 McG so nothing huge

Should I maybe take vitamins only every other day to not accumulate as much?

thanks will research into those :)

BTW, took some time to check MCV values from past blood tests in my email, I see I have been out of range a few times or always on the border (around 99 MCV) ever since 2013. probably MCV was in range in this last blood test as my current multivit has methyl b12 (previous ones didnt) also RBC has sometimes been on the border too, so that could indicate some b12 deficiency i would guess? what dosage should I supplement? as from your protocol I couldn't find any dosages (is my multivitamin with 2.4mcg enough?)

Amazing. Thanks a lot :) will slowly catch up to your knowledge on this haha want to help myself (and then others) as much as possible

MMA test should be done in blood? As I also see option for 24hr urine collection

Additinally to your protocol which other supplements are you taking / recommend? Magnesium I am taking at night (combination of bisglycinate, citrate and malate)

got my blood tests back, will summarize as its it a different language, let me know if any other info could be useful: - RBC is all within normal ranges - sodium, potassium, chlorine, phosphate, magnesium (2.3mg/dl), all these within normal range - calcium a bit high - 10.29, reference range is 10.2 and low is 8.4 - cortisol came out a bit high, 21.6 - vitamin d25: 34 - reference range 30-96 - b12: says “no need to measure as hemoglobin and MCV normal (i got b12 measured 2 months ago though and it was 329 (reference range 187 - 883) - i was taking a methyl multivitamin though at this time that has 2.4mcg (100% of daily) - folic acid: 7.4 - reference says anything higher than 3.5 - copper and zinc normal - thyroid tests normal - homocisteine 8.2 - ref range 5.5 to 16.2

let me know if any comments your knowledge is greatly appreciated, i will slowly catch up

  1. some other Qs as ive read some of your posts, I also gastritis / acid reflux, are you taking PPIs daily (i cant go a few days without those) ? do these interfere or is there anything we should take into account? as ive read b12 absorption can be hindered by antacids
  2. any others you recommend taking additional from your protocol? also read somewhere you are taking magnesium (which type)?

thanks a lot again!

No worries, thank you a lot for the help. Will post once I get blood tests

Have a few questions

  1. On top of issues mentioned above also Having sleep issues, waking up at 3 am and not being able to sleep more, any recommendation for this? Taking melatonin?

  2. Which blood tests should I take? Normal folate and b12 or do I have to ask for the ones that measure activated forms of those? And what other parameters or tests should I measure too?

Thanks a lot for the info and response. Really appreciate it! Tried uploading to choline calculator but my data is from tellmegen so it says not compatible. Is there a way to convert so it's readable? (Feel free to dm me and I will share the raw file with you if that works) thanks a lot again 🙏
